You get at least an SIC type. As far as IRO's, most FO's are PIC typed and they try to type all but recently the FAA haven't been available for the ride.
If this happens they type you the next time through.

It all depends on where the training is done, apparently. If you luck out and go to SEA then its much easier to get a Fed out there to do the type. In MIA you dont even want to the Fed there is a pain.

Yeah, I was forgetting about Boeing Seattle.
Also the FED that I think your referring to is gone as of a few months ago. They won't let him back into the building there at AeroServices. The only one left is our POI.

Talked to our Director of Training last week, and he said they were not going to do a class in January, but probably resume in February.
But now I'm flying with a Sim instructor who is saying that the class we hired in December that will be done in January is our last class for now.
Seems they want to get a few more a/c but can't get them at a decent rate.
Their will be a lot of attrition here though soon if things keep going the way they are going.
Sorry for the info, but this is a definite change from the 2007 mantra of a class a month indefinitely.
We also might have gone on penalty with the Military due to this quarter we went below the 85% rolling average (this is a rumor-but from reliable sources), which is never a good thing. The Military pulls all your scheduled flying so you can get your act together. That just means less flying for our crews.

I see North American is going to be at the Aeroservice job fair, but if they aren't going to be hiring that doesn't mean much.

The word I got, directly from the Chief Pilot, was that they were not going to run a class in January, but in his words the hiring machine was going to continue in the foreseeable future. We are expecting some attrition as American recalls and other majors continue to hire. Not hiring for growth as stated above due to lack of 767's on the market for the right price. But they are still actively searching for more aircraft....Hope this helps...

Really, I was thinking that attrition would slow down at NAA and WOA. It seems to me that things will slow down at the Majors until they sort out 65, including FedEx, UPS and SWA who all seem to be slowing down. I wouldn't leave a "good" job now until the crystal ball was a little clearer.
That's not even considering the silly merger rumors. I think I'll keep my head in the sand. See what I'm saying.....:pimp:

How do you merge 3 seniority lists, especially with furloughs on one? Has it ever happened b4?

yeah, I'm sure there's a few Richards out there who think that the stapler should be brought into play.

Doh

Date of Hire, and if you are an NAA pilot it's UGLY. I saw a sheet that had everyone listed and in the middle were the ATA pilots. Most of the World pilots were evenly spaced out but the end was all NAA. SOMEONE, NOT ME said the discussing between some pilots would be to staple the furlough pilots to the bottom of the list. The reason; most of these individuals already have other jobs and will not be returning. This is all RUMOR, I recieved my info from one of our active union volunteers. I betting all this is wrong but interesting none the less

Flame Bait!!!

Hey

since your a "NEWBE" at NAA why don't you ask BW if you can see his color chart of the combined seniority list and then ask him what is being discussed. Then hop your "@$$" back on this board and apologize. Do you think all options are not being discussed?

How is that Flame Bait when I STATED IT WAS a RUMOR?

Ok, Is it a rumor or is there a list?
You're contradicting yourself.

Guys -

All we have is an agreement in principle to work together in the event of a merger. The respective MEC's are on excellent terms and no merger appears to be imminent, however the lines of communication remain open so that we can forestall as much chaos as possible if there is a change to the corporate structure or a scope grievance precipitates some type of integration.

That type of scenario is a lengthy one, anyway, so in the interim we are doing our best to share information and protect jobs for all of the interested pilot groups.

I am not in posession of nor have I seen any "list," however all three leadership groups have exchanged seniority lists as well as CBA's.

The rumor was "the furlough were going to be stapled" TOOL! Which I stated as such! Idiot, read the post. This is why that lame contract almost pass at NAA......individuals like yourself that can't read.

About how many NAA pilots were hired after Jan. 2005? This is when ATA started furloughing. I would have a huge problem with stapling furloughees below anyone hired after they were furloughed.

This is one of the reasons that DOH with fences and job protection clauses. No one should lose there jobs because of a merger. No one should lose pay, either. They might get "bumped" from a seat, but with pay protection.

Read your own post, but I'm done arguing with someone who likes to post rumors on a public forum!!

Try a little professionalism please!!

It won't happen. World will be sold off long before we could figure out a merger. Now NAA and ATA, that's a different story.

That's why it sucks not flying for the "home" team. What I mean is, being independently owned, is better than being a subsidiary.

If we look at the facts...ATA has the most active pilots, more than World and NAA combined, so they are in the drivers seat. If the stats on APC are correct. And I don't believe anyone is going to get stapled to the bottom or DID I EVER SAY THAT. What the future for us is anyone guess but I would like to know why everyone thinks World is going to get sold. Didn't they just buy a 747?
