not really, Sprint has the Blackberry 8830 World Phone, CDMA and GSM. The phone comes unlocked, I think that you can use what ever sim card you want.
 
That could work, most of the guys I know use ATT or Tmobile. Some change sim cards in the different countries. All I can say is give it a try.
 
As of now it is around 4 years. May get slightly shorter with the AA/TWA recalls and/or any additional aircraft.
