I wasnt saying Flex doesnt have a niche. I'm sure there are people that prefer to fly around in LJ's and Challengers. I agree with NJW when she says healthy competition is vital to this industry. That way everyone should be striving to offer the best product and service they can for our owners. I just took exception to the condensending tone you took against Netjets. I have flown a few former Flex customers that prefer Netjets. I'm sure you have done the same with our former owners. Its is their money, and they can take it where ever they feel they get the best service and deal. I have always strived to offer good service and a friendly face to our owners.

Out of curiosity<bg>

My boss wonders why anyone would want to buy into a fractional period.

p.s. Not flaming the fracs, I'm just glad my boss feels that way.
*********

Why wouldnt he is the better question.

Not knowing how big your flight department is makes this a little tougher sell.

If he owns or is going to buy:

1. Staff the airplane: interview, hire, train.
2. Fees: hangar, insurance, maintenance, training.
3. Unexpected costs: mx.
4. Dealing with sick calls and vacations.
5. Dealing with all aspects of aiplane ownership.

If he buys into a fractional:

1. The plane is already staffed with trained and qualified pilots.
2. These fees are spread amongst other owners.
3. These costs are shared with other owners.
4. Dont worry about pilots schedules.
5. No worries about day to day ownerships problems.

If he owns one plane and it is gone, then he has no spare. If he buys 100 hours, he can have 2 planes in the same day going seperate directions.

If he owns multiple airplanes, this is a great way to have a spare. He has a big flight schedule, one plane is breaks the day of travel. one phone call and he has a backup plane within 2 hrs.

Its like buying a timeshare vs. a full condo. When you want to use it, it is there for you to enjoy. When you are not using it, no headaches.

Jets in the sky right now!

As of 1000 eastern here are the stats:

Citation shares 13
Flex Jet 18
Options 31
Netjets 68

Hammer, are you afraid for your job? Are you here to drum up some business?

The above statistics mean nothing. A much truer measure with the above number would be jets in the sky as a percentage of total fleet. To that effect,I think Citation Shares might actually be ahead. Does anybody have the frax fleet numbers to compute that?

JTrain - even if you do compute the "percentage of fleet in the air", what does that prove? What about the amount of planes, in any fractional's fleet, that were either just about to depart or had just landed at that time? What about the fact at any large operation, a certain portion of the fleet will be done for scheduled maintenance at any time. And of course, some days are simply slower than others, from a demand standpoint.

I just don't think computing "percentage of fleet in the air" at one moment on one particular day means anything, statistically. But if you want to do the calculations, please feel free.

I do remember....

Gawd, that sounded like a I have a dream speech. Just saying flex is becoming more of a player in the fracs.

There was a time when all the frax bubbas out there felt like we were on the same team or at least in the same league. Everyone spoke, was friendly, and even passed on the good, bad, and ugly from their respective company. It seems to me that over the last couple of years or more that mutual respect has dissolved. Not sure why. One of the common feelings was we're not at the majors, but thank god we're not at the regionals! You get my drift.

Anyway, I hope Flex does become more of a player. If the other frax can gain some ground on NJA it would help us ALL. Competitoin is a very good thing for this industry, especailly the frax. We need it the most!

XTW, sorry I forgot to answer your question last night! I have flight explorer personal on my computer. With an AOPA discount it is like 8 bucks a month for 10 hours of access. You can track fleets, individual jets or by airport. Lots and lots of cool stuff to play with when you are bored.

Come on guys and girl (NJW). why fight about who's dad can beat up who's. If everyone belongs to IBT1108, we can all have a good career.

Do you see the light? (Blues brothers)

No kidding, why all the need to try to one up each other lately. I have always enjoyed visiting with pilots from all the fracs and have rarely heard the attitude certain people are trying to bring up. In 1108 or not, we are all in the same industry doing the same job so get over yourselves, it accomplishes nothing!

With rough numbers, it appears that each frac had approx 20% flying at the time.

You need to ask the anti-union crowd  just how much I encourage the other frac pilots to stand up for themselves and how many times I have expressed my belief that 1108 is their best means of doing that. I am very outspoken in my opinion that all of our frac families have earned, and thus deserve, a fair contract. Furthermore, I was not part of the "fight". I support all of the frac pilots and see them as being on the same side. I think you need to read a little closer please. I have often said that the strength of industry standards is only realized when the standards are applied across the industry. Can it be that you've been missing my banners, Hawker Dude? Allow me to remind you of a few---;) NJW
