Word on the street is the hiring is slowing to a crawl for the rest of 08....

Rumor... hired 200 this year

I am pretty sure the "word on the street" is wrong. Of course I could be wrong, but they just started an average sized class on the 7th, I have a couple buddies waiting for a class date and a couple more with interviews scheduled. That doesn't exactly scream slow down.

Fact is, we are actually on pace to hire more than last year.

your right dad,

I know of a few people who have phone interviews or requests to schedule one.....there may be a back up in training/ sim slots.....but there is not a stop or slow due to economy/ fuel......still waiting lists and people wanting to be NJA owners.

I flew some kids to summer camp recently....i'd imagine mom and dad would fly them commercailly if they were pinching pennies....

People with larger amounts of money weather economic slowdowns drasticly different then airline passengers.....simple fact.

The hiring continues! :)

I was there today and they had 2 classes of 15 each running with new hires....

so id say the hiring continues......

I just finished indoc today, therefore I will give the most current info which came straight from the Easton. We had 17 in my July 7th class, another class of 8 starts monday, and 2 classes start at the same time in August (don't know the class dates for August though). One of the Flight Safety guys doing interviews sat in on some of the indoc and indicated they have had no slow down what so ever in the interviewing process. They are just a little back up for training slots right now.

They just aren't sure where to put some of the recently hired (concerning class dates) because of the training back up. They are just about to start planning for 2009 with no plans of slowing down.

This is all info that came straight from NJ instructors, managers, and Flight Safety people.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Flying Dude. This is the BEST INFORMATION POSTED ON THIS FORUM regarding hiring/classes in a LONG time, and from a NJ new hire! Who would've guessed? I hope to be in the August class. Fingers crossed, I'll find out next week.

Planes a sittin' (them and us) reasons

lol thats funny...

to educate you, it is because we can't have guys sitting around for 5 months waiting on a sim. More sims = more hiriing.

We have planes sitting with no crews because FSI can't support our training requirements. Plus the fact this is our slow season. Enjoy the summer!!

The aviation industry coin:

Head (positive) side of the coin; we have planes a sittin' because we can't train new hires quick enough is true. Tail (negative) side of same coin; more then countless 121 carriers parking planes and they have the crews to fly them and their crews.

Sure don't mind some depressed NJA wannabe saying we are about to put pilots on the street.

Remember, jealousy thrives in the American heart.
