I interviewed yesterday on 8/15 and just accepted a class on 9/24. (class of 16). The next class is 10/15 (class of 14).

No...they called the next morning. We did sign a confidentiality form about the interview. I'll just say that the interview was very relaxed and non-confrontational. The was no brow beating and no dissecting your logbook.

1 Billion in excess cash
Drop in United Airlines (UAUA) provides buying opportunity

UAL Corporation (NASDAQ: UAUA), the parent of United Airlines, got beat up pretty good along with the rest of the airline group yesterday.

However, investors should not stampede away from this sector, or more specifically, from UAL. As discussed in a Bear Stearns report released yesterday, the airline, which recently emerged from bankruptcy, continues to explore ways to utilize its massive cash hoard of $5 billion to maximize shareholder value, $1 billion of which management believes is excess cash.

Also, UAL is seeking ways to unlock value for its Mileage Plus program, a business that generates $800 million per year in revenue and has a large deferred revenue stream which provides some visibility for future revenue. Aeroplan, the Canadian-based loyalty marketing service business that was spun off from Air Canada's holding company, sells for a 60% premium to its former parent and a 200% premium on an enterprise value/EBITDA basis to the pure airline, Air Canada.

The Bear report places a $65 price target on UAL, with the asset break-up value of the company going as high as $80. Operational turnaround, huge free cash flow generation and the potential to realize value for the mileage plus business are all cited as reasons that could lead to a considerably higher stock price.

Welcome to United!

We have a great Pilot group and YOU will NOT buy any beer in your first year. Hopefully the pay will increase soon for us all.....

Cograts Pilotgolfer! Got the interview on the 30th. Just curious if there's any testing or was it just the interview? Any info would be great. Thanks

So not getting a call the day after the interview is probably an indication to start checking the mail? Or am I just being paranoid?

Does UAL still....

give prior employees (non-flyers) first dibs on equipment openings regardless of last 4 of SSN?

What is Denver like in regards to seniority?

Let's see. no widebodies, low cost of living, generally considered to be a nice place to live... VERY SENIOR. Only Seattle is more senior. Pretty good chance there will be guppies avail, but if you get a Guppy or Bus anywhere, you should be able to get DEN within 6 months. You will stay on resefve for a looooong time though. Unless you live nearby (ie, you have to commute anyway) bid ORD. Pretty junior and only one airport to cover (DCA and SFO guys cover 3). Unfortunately, the ORD domicile is in CHICAGO!

Anybody having issues with the flight time email they send out? I filled out the app, a few days later got the "fill-in-the-flight-times" email. The Taleo site for the flight time was down at the time so I submitted it a few days later--it looks like it took it. Get another email two weeks later to do the flight time grid (which I already did). I tried to resubmit it, but it gives me a message that I already did it! Not sure what is happening with the process here. Anybody else see this?

*phew*

...so I am not the only one that has not heard anything from last week?

I've almost convinced myself I diddn't get it.

Good luck to all.
