Interested to see what everybody thinks is the most well known/publicized accident of all time. You still see stuff,90 some odd years later, about the Titanic on a regular basis it what made me wonder about this. Let's see what you think.
 
does september 11th count? if not, how about TWA flight 800. conspiracy theorists love that one.
 
lockerbie was the one where the terrorists blew the plane up over scotland. it was a 747. very ugly. tenerife, i am not so sure about. was that the 2 747's colliding on ground and burning everyone up? or was it a 747 and another heavy A/C?
 
Overall: Titanic, Chernobyl, Bhopal, and finally the Andrea Doria, made famous by the Seinfeld episode.

Flying: Tenerife, the Hindenburg, Eastern L1011 in the Everglades.
 
oh, i have to throw Michael Jackson into the mix for the most well-known accident! :D
