More Furlough Rumblings at Flex

I second that motion! Sitting here in a 3rd world airport in this 3rd world country where its 42C / 99% humidity where I am surprised I have internet service on my phone... and again pondering why I am doing this and not working as a walmart greeter.. ....I too want my job back. I will start tomorrow if needed!

Hopefully the salary and/or interesting travel opportunities offset the location? Can you quit or are you locked into a contract for a year or two...

Thanks for the sentiments. What really stinks is being right at the top for callback. Not only was it a blow to have just missed the cutoff point, but because I'll be right there with initial callbacks, I'm hypersensitive to every little rumor floating about. Irrational yes... but I guess I'm just bored. Being a house-dad is pretty cool though! For now...

There is definitely an extra set of emotions that you get when you just miss a cut-off point and being at the front of the call-back line would make anyone extra vigilant. Boxer, I have no doubt that you and your family are feeling every dip and jerk of the emotional roller coaster the furloughed pilots are having to ride.

This brings up a disturbing potential scenario. Could someone furloughed in the first wave run out of time waiting to be recalled while pilots in a later furlough group see the economy improve in time? With such a short window for a severe recession there may well be others who just miss the cut-off point on the recall side. Yuck! My sympathies to the Flex pilots and their families who are in this unique to the industry situation. It's bad enough to get furloughed, but having a (management-imposed) 2 year clock ticking constantly in the background must make it even worse.

On a different note and to relief the tension on this thread a little by changing the subject, economists are saying that the worst is probably behind us. We had a good week at the NYSC with the DJI and S&P closing with the highest numbers since last October.
Home sales are up, but consumer lack of spending still weak and showing below forecast.
On Wednesday a report new home sales for July is up and hopefully that will give an even better week at the market.
Let’s hope for a rapid recovery on the economy, so everyone can have their jobs back or even land a better job

And sorry, 300/604, whatever!! There can only be 2 reasons you're getting so worked up; either we are right or you need some serious anger management control.

So according to the latest meeting no foreseeable recalls, but recall eligibility is no longer limited to the original two years. FR was a little vague but mentioned extending recall eligibility to three to five years or more. It might be worth a pone call to the office to get the official word.
