Cheap golf in Monterrey!!

Try Pebble Beach, or if $300+ is not in your budget try Rancho Canada it is about $60 and a nice course.

spent many a RON there. Try Pacific Grove- it is a poor mans peaple beach. that is probably the cheapest. but last time i played that was about 8 yrs ago so i don't know what it costs now.

You might try Laguna Seca or Fort Ord as I remember they were good bargains back in the day.

Good place to bike ride if you are into that. take a drive down to Big Sur for lunch- Ventana has got good food and nice patio overlooking Pacific.

Go to Carmel to poke around one day and eat lunch or dinner. watch out for Dirty Harry

There is plenty to do for a bored flight crew.

I think there is one that you can get on if you are or were a member of the armed forces. Very close to the airport too.. Pretty cheap and not a bad course. Not sure if that helps you or not.

Millionair has some kind of membership thing you can use at several of the local golf courses, I know last weekend the guy I was flying with played 18 at Rancho Cañada (pronounced: Kuh-nada) for $22...

It was a good place off the beaten "tourist" path, frequented by locals... Was there only once so far, but it was excellent...

Also stop by the Baja Cantina on Carmel Valley Rd. for some excellent Mexican and great Margaritas!

Where are you parking? Both Millionaire and Jet Center have deals for local attractions and will be able to point you towards good golf.

I've spent countless RON's cruising the coast in Jet Center's convertible VW's. There's always something fun to do in MRY.

dropped a small fortune in Nevada Bobs and other golf shops in that area as well. Take the "17 mile Drive" down to pebble beach, past spyglass, spanish bay and cypress point (one of the most exclusive GC in the states). enjoy!

the monterey peninsula is without a doubt one of the best places you can layover as a corp pilot.

I love Monterey. I couldnt agree more its a great layover spot..

wish I had the opportunity and the bucks to live there.

definitely eat at the fish wife good food better prices,if your nice to the girls at the counter they will give you their dukes card wich will get you huge discounts on golf, you can play delmonte pretty cheap and it is actually one of the property courses of pebble, close to the airport and quite challenging. also you can allways get passes to the aquarium,dont forget 17 mile drive

that delmonte course is nice, i forgot about it- also,
i think it has the distinction of being the oldest golf course west of the mississippi.

Better yet, I've you've got a military ID or are a CAP member, check into going for a flight in the T-34 at the Navy's Aero Club. Way cheaper than a round of golf at the expensive links.

If you stay at the Monterey Marriott, try the Montrio Bistro for dinner. It's situated a half block up Calle Principal from the Marriott in an old 1910 Firehouse. The Concierge (who may be related to someone who works at the Bistro) told me the restaurant had been voted best in Monterey four times. Anyway, it's has a good menu, a wine list of principally California wines and is reasonable.

I recently ate there. I had a Grey Goose Gibson, shared a cockles and mussels appetizer skillet with the flight attendant, had a sort of Florentine Halibut filet served on spinach and rissoto with grilled asparagus, and an unassuming Sauvignan Blanc, while she had a great cappellini, all for $89.00 with a 15% tip.

Go to Million Air at MRY. Charlie Brown runs the place, he's been in Corporate FBO's forever and is the best. Mgr of Customer Srvce is Marilyn Sullivan, who used to be dispatcher at Xerox at HPN. BTW, they got married to each other a couple of years ago. Talk about a match made in heaven. They will hook you up with Golf and a nice PT Cruiser to boot. Tell 'em Radar sent you!

I second the aquarium. Ya, its a tourist spot but well worth the visit. If you have time to make it down to Carmel, "The Hoggs Breath Inn" is Clints (Dirty Harry) place and has a nice out door patio to eat. Nothing spectacular but at least you can say you made it there.

Left corporate/charter for the airlines and MRY is without a doubt the most frequently visited destination I miss the most.

I used to be based there at SkyWest and worked at Monterey Peninsula Country Club part time to pay first year billz. Got to play all of the courses there, except Cypress..., but my favorite was Bayonet/Blackhorse. Twilight special was something like $35 and it was one of the best courses I"ve ever played (I'm a -1 handicap). Laguna Seca was fun, although a few holes just plain sucked, as was a course up in Santa Cruz, just off of 101 east of Santa Cruz, that we called "Gorillas in the mist" b/c it was always foggy. look it up, it's public, and awesome. Pacific Grove is a blast too, play inthe afternoon when the wind comes up and a 100 yard par 3 never looked so small.

Anyone ever stayed at the Days Inn in downtown MRY. Apparently the town is sold out, and Days Inn is even 220 a night. I went to the webpage and it looks awful.
