Profession? Union? You've got to be kidding me. Mesa, SCABS of the Industry. How many of you either flew for or jumpseated on Mesa in the past or present? And you wonder why these airline manager's treat you as they do?
"Well, I needed to build time to get out of there" or "I was desperate, I needed a way to work or home." Thanks for your support!

Labor Union.....ALPA? Grow some hair on your nuts and put a stop to the downward spiral of this once called "profession." Oh yea, I forgot, you don't really belong to an AFL-CIO Labor Organization........it's a Professional Airline Association.......White Collar Professionals.

I wonder what David Behncke or former real EAL Pilots would say to ALPA leadership or to those of you that "support" airlines like Mesa today?

Pathetic....
How is mesa scabs of the industry?

What do you call a mesa pilot with a peice of plywood ??? First Home Owner

What do you call a mesa pilot with 3 peices of plywood??? Property Developer

lol :)

Seriuously though this is disgracefull. As much as we bash Mesa this is something that could happen at any carrier if we all dont start sticking up for each other.

So, would a Mesa pilot without a piece of plywood therefore be homeless?

Where are all the Mesa pilots and supporters that normally chime in on the Mesa bashing treads lately? I guess it's kind of hard to try to justify this kind of crap, even for them.

They can't type. They have too many splinters from playing with each other's wood during the overnight. They don't sit down too much either!

You all get what you deserve working for a Scabby airline like Mesa. Too bad ALPA doesn't kick you out. Oh wait, you give ALPA money. Guess they will now take anyone who pays them off now -isn't that right FREEDOM SOB's???

From A list to Z boards, Mesa has consistently defined the bottom of the industry in just about every way imagineable.

Ya hear that sound? That's the sound of that catchy little play on words whizzing right over everyone's head. Too bad. Nicely done.

How many hours between flights is YOUR airline required, by contract, to provide a hotel to you?

Mesa
Comair
Eagle
ExpressJet
Mesaba
Chautauqua
SkyWest
ASA
Pinacle
TSA
Air Wisconsin
Colgan
Piedmont

Just curious...

I'd love to see a photo of crews sleeping in their planes - I'd pass it along to a friend of mine who is a staff writer for the Dallas Morning News. I'm trying to convince him to write a feature on the sh!tty conditions these guys at the regionals face.

CDO's at Air Wisconsin require a min of 5 hours on the ground AND a hotel room.

During a normal trip, I think the contract says 4:30 between actual in and scheduled out gets you a day room.

S.

the best CDO's are the ones that go to canada. You have to sit out in baggage claim area for 4 hours because customs doesn't open til 5am. So they look even more like homeless bums. Then don't forget about the jounior assignment when ya get back.

Because pilots are willing to whore themselves to the lowest denominator (MESA) in the industry at any price under any conditions. This is America, Land of Opportunity. There are other alternatives. Get off your arse and find them. Do you not live your life based on a set of values and principals?

Pinnacle- you need 48 hours notice to be assigned any CDO with less than 6 hours on the ground, normally 5 hours scheduled/ 4 hours unscheduled for a dayroom, and always hotels on CDOs.

That some funny ********************, hope it's snowing and your APU inop, almost as funny as watching you guy making block pay when the ramp is closed for hours...

Was in PHX recently and saw a few Mesa pilots carrying around plywood boards with the rest of their stuff. What's up with the plywood?

Actually, if you are on the CRJ, I can give you a tip so you don't have to look as pitiful as you are carrying around plywood boards. You can remove the seat cushion from one row, and then place it between the two aisle seats of another row. You can't sit on it, but it will give you enough a$$ support while lying down. It's gotta be more comfortable than plyboard.

The extra comfort should give you room to grow some balls..

I was thinking this as they waited 60 minutes for a ramp spot in JFK today. Comair, you guys making money... yeap. Chautauqua yeap... Mesa... silence. And by the way... I didn't know you could fly a dash eight with an engine cowling that looks like someone took a baseball bat to it. I guess you get what you pay for.

You can fly a Dash 8 with the whole airplane looking like someone took a baseball bat to it. Ever seen ours?

We're 5 hours for a day room, no CDOs.

Its obvious that you know nothing about mesa's pilots or the old F8. its usually the the one's that dont know that bietch the most.

The camping trips at Mesa are NOT cdos. They are night trips with a sit (usually around 2.5 hrs). Mesa crews get hotels for cdos just like everyone else. This flying is out of LAS and are redeyes. They are not one day trips. They are part of 3 or 4 day trips that involve multiple legs.

Think of it this way. You have a 5 leg day. After leg 3 you have a 2.5 hr sit. Then 2 more legs. The only difference is this is all night flying (think fright dog).

My guess is that no airline (regional) has protections against this in there contract. I can assure you that when Mesas next contract is over they will have protections against this type of flying. -Bean

ps, Not defending Mesa for these types of trips, just trying to get some facts strights as usual on this site.
