I saw a b1tchin Camaro parked at the trailer park down by the landfill. The driver had the coolest mullet I have ever seen.

Guess which finger I'm pointing with now. A Wright Amendment post turned into your commentary on the state of the airline business, and personal jabs at other pilots. Don't post things that you can't back up. Many pilots might not desire to work at a LCC airline, but all pilots would rather see an operation such as GIA go away.

How is cruising up and down Florida at 17000 close to space walking?

A successful Everest accent, I may give you that one.
Actually, Everest is at 29,000 MSL. So even crossing the Himalayas is out of the question for the Russian in her mighty Beech, unless she intends to shot-put it over. . . . now, that I would pay to see.

Second thought, maybe she could strap an old JATO bottle to her Camaro and launch right out of the trailer park and into orbit . . . . of course, for this mission, she'd be welcome to the left seat . . . and the right seat . . . and the back seats, too.

Agreed...you would think that after paying $20K fly a stretch King Air, one would lay low and display some humility, instead you get this.

Becky Becky Becky you just don't get it now do you. Don't try to play with the Big Boys cause they are all in a line to spank you!

Now go make your nails nice and pretty so they look good while you are pulling u the gear and flaps for your Captain.

And yes Ty Webb she would try to strap a JATO on her Camaro if she could find one.

Bye Bye Princess

P.S.

Hey Becky have you been taking that Cessna 172 into any Level 5 Thunderstorms lately?

Guys,

There is a saying: Never argue with an idiot.

Whoever the Russian is, it's not worth the keystrokes.

The Russian is the next THEGUAT, TOPGUNMAV and TABEXPRESSF/O but a whiny female version. I think she is just a disgruntled F/A that Southwest didn't hire!

I don't know why you people are squandering your much higher intellects on something that could barely registers as a retard (sorry need to be P.C. mentally handicapped). Do what I did and everyone can see what I see when the Russian ignoramus decides to open her pie hole:

This message is hidden because The_Russian is on your ignore list.

Unbelievable!

I have not been to this board since 20 October due to circumstances. During this time I have had neither the time nor the inclination to post.

I was EXTREMELY interested in this posting due to the legalities associated with the Wright/Shelby Amendment. Not just from the SWA/AMR perspective, but the legal manuevering. SWA was founded by attorneys and is run by attorneys. Do not lose that in translation.

This post has turned into one of the biggest disappointments. I am sorry that children have hi-jacked the post. IF you do not have something constructive to add to this specific discussion, I suggest that you find another avenue to play.

Chase, as always, thank you for displaying both sides of the argument.

As for PFT, GIA, and other arguments, please GO AWAY. You destroyed a very relevant post and wasted my time.

and the post continues...............great job everybody now Mom's home and we are all in trouble!

This was a pretty good thread up until it went down a rabbit trail.

Something to think about.

SWA started in 1974. (IIRC)
The DAL legacy carriers signed the move to DFW agreement in 1973.
SWA having not signed such an agreement had to take the legal action to be able to maintain the ability to offer service from a U.S. public Airport.

The Wright Amendment was not enacted until 1979, after SWA announced its first service outside of Texas.

In 2000 or 2001 Legend airlinnes anounced that they were going to fly long haul out of Love using DC9s configured to seat 56 pax.

Want to guess who filed the initial lawsuits to stop them.

Want to guess who started RJ service out of Love Field as soon as Legend announced its intentions.

Want to guess who pulled out of Love Field right after the legal fight bled all of Legends start up capital and the airline closed its doors.

Just a little food for thought.

Not very nice are they?

But that's not really the point. The point is how do you protect DFW for at least 3 more years. As long as this 800lb gorilla is allowed to turn DAL into their own private field with 300 flts per day, this would keep any other LCC out of DFW due to higher costs of operation, not enough a/c to fight the fight, and a geographical disadvantage of a 30 minute commute as opposed to 10 minutes from Downtown Dallas. I say repeal it now, if Southwest will cap their gate space at DAL to the present amount. Otherwise, let it ride until the end of 2007, when AirTran, Jetblue, VUSA, and probably Spirit will have enough planes to fill out the remaining gates at DAL or DFW.

My sources tell me that Spirit's ownership is threatening to close the doors. I'll try and get more info, but the last I heard, their owner says that they won't last past next fall. I've got a few good friends at Spirit, I hope that they don't go the way of Southeast. This business sux sometimes.

I hope you're wrong Calvin. They recently had a cash infusion by a sugar daddy of $125M, and there is more if needed it was said. The sugar daddy may be holding a caveat over the owners head that they will not infuse any more money unless the payroll is reduced. I know the present ownership wants to take the company public but that may be impossible unless expenses are further reduced. Let's hope with the recent reduction of oil in the last few days that this is a sign of the bubble bursting and further reductions are on the horizon. This would give a respite to all in need.:)

Low, I too hope that Calvin is wrong.

If Spirit goes down, then everybody is going down, because we have the LOWEST NON-FUEL COSTS in the industry. I don't have time to dig it up, but the owner has been quoted in an article in the south Florida press as saying just that, that we are the lowest cost carrier. Unfortunately, we reached the lowcost grail by paying the lowest. Only (possibly) Frontier pays less, and that is debatable because, hour for hour, Frontier pays more. We are no better paid than most senior RJ pilots. As of today, our MEC is meeting with the boss. If those guys fail us, we might just decertify the blinking union.

The owner has cried wolf before and it was a bluff. He won that time, so he apparently has decided to try again.

Good Luck to us all,
enigma

Good luck,Enigma. I hope that the emminent shut down is just a mgmt bluff and you guys stick around. I hate it when they try this shiet around Christmas ...!!
