You wake up in-flight not knowing where you are, what time it is, and knowing the engines don't sound right, only to realize you're in cattle class deadheading to the next load.

You're snoozing in the jump seat on another leg and after landing are queried by the NTSB regarding the flight's severe turbulence encounter and subsequent diversion. You can't help as you slept through the whole deal. 'Flight felt fine to me.'

You wake up 10 seconds from touchdown, 'my airplane', and prevent the pay-to-play FO in the right seat from pranging the plane.

You deny the Fed's ramp check request as you haven't had a chance to empty the lav. The Fed says that type doesn't have a lav. He disappears when you say 'I know.'

You upgrade and celebrate. Now you can afford a place with only 3 roommates.

You met your instrument currency last night, including the partial panel non-precision approach with a circle-to-land with a holding pattern in lieu of a procedure turn.

You go back to flight instructing to fly newer airplanes.

Fly SAFE!

Your boss upgrades the freighters with GNS530's...but pulls the HSI's out...

When you get into a newer airplane, and there's no vibration.

..and it scares the hell out of you...

While waiting on freight with no other place to go, you decide that with a modest effort the 9-G Net can be strategically re clipped into a makeshift hammock for a few z's.

When Speedy in LRD knows you by name.

When you use the same 9g net as a clothes line to dry out sweat soaked shirts and pants.

A newer airplane is anything manufactured post WWII

You go back to CFIing for more money

As a CFI, you subconsciously add 2 quarts of oil to the engine of the c172, before every flight. You then have a more "at home" feeling after your plane begins leaving its mark on the ramp.

You think a GNS530 is a new video game
