I am 11,262 out of 12,434.
No. They can furlough all of the 07 and 08 hires independent of that list until SOC. Trust me, if they need to they will before SOC. (a la drag their feet on SOC until the furloughs are done!)
60 yr plus "NB captains that won't be able to hold it" - I'm shedding a tear for them. Then they should just retire then and give up on greed.
Dude who cares! Give it up already-it's the law so quit griping about it. I'm tired of reading about the age 65 thing.
Would you retire now if you could work a few extra years to replace some of what you have lost this past year?
Quit thinking about yourself and understand that those captains who continue to work may be forced to, to provide for their family. This past year was hard on EVERYONE.

Come on, you are being a wheenie. Hey, maybe we should allow all of the pilots who are under 65 that recently retired at 60 to come BACK to the airlines in their former positions, right? They may have to provide for their families...... Gimmee a break man! They didn't care about the guys ahead of them who left at 60.
Bye Bye--General Lee

Hard on everyone..... there is a difference between seeing your $3million investment portfolio go to $2million and receiving your 3rd notice of possilbe foreclosure due to an unanticipated airline furlough. The guy that turned 60 last December hit the lottery, the guy who turned 61 was booted..... Really, trying to rationalize the biggest screw job in this industry by one generation to the next is really shallow.
It is the law, but lots of injustice is condoned in the law. Just because some 50 year olds lobbied hard enough, with enough dough to get thier way, doesn't make it right, especially the way it was implemented. How about phasing the age limit raise in over a decade, etc. Oh no, that wouldn't work, because those who funded the screwing wouldn't reap enough treasure.
How about a DFW Base?)
No No No. Growing up as the son of a DFW based Delta pilot and seven years as a Delta ramper at DFW, I always wanted to wear the uniform. If that were to happen I would have to put in an application and I have told myself I am not going to do that. (Since I am tainted fractional material I probably wouldn't get hired anyway when the hiring begins again.)
It is good to see a strong Delta with a good group like Northwest to add value. It would be nice to see more airline tickets on Delta to and from work. Best of luck down the road to all.
A legacy, that sounds a little over the top. I am just another kid that spent a lot of time at the airport and wanted to fly a jet with a black nose.
Do you by any chance have a brother at DAL?Maybe someday. They have to start hiring first.
By doing what - bidding what their senioity can hold?
How are you going to prevent it? Let me guess - you will be one of those little weasles who call the CP and rat out their fellow crew members for not dotting every i or crossing every t? They've seen your kind before.
This airline - all of us - is going to be a much stronger company than either could have been indivdually. We each bring unique strengths and culture to the mix - and that is what it will be - a mix of cultures. If you don't think NWA has a great pilot group you will be suprised. The sooner you get over your xenophobia and corporate racism the happier you will be. We all gained and all lost something in this SLI. Where and how much is in the eyes of the beholder.
For someone who claims to have been in the business a while you seem to have a very little understanding of just how volatile and unpredictable it can be. Fortunes of companies and careers are largely out of your hands, and is more luck and timing than anything. 30 yrs ago there was TWA and PAA and everyone else was an "also ran".
Relax, it's out of your hands, and you have a bright future ahead of you even if it involves a displacement or base move - hopefully it won't. Best to be planning your bidding strategy in both directions - that goes for anyone.
Very good post Fly4hire. I think many people at former NW and Delta would benefit from this wisdom.
And General Lee, since we should all "move on" can you please stop using the pre-SLI, Delta union spin statement that Delta aquired Northwest? I think intelligent people realize that you don't really aquire a company that has more cash on hand then them. Most people, including the arbitrators, understand that this was a "merger of equals", with Delta keeping the name and headquarters. It would go a long way with us former NW pilots because we feel that saying we were "aquired" is condescending and frankly, insults our intelligence.
Give it a break. DAL acquired NWA, I don't have to say it, GL doesn't have to say it, Wall Street said it, and all the legal documents reflect an acquisition, not a merger of equals, even the MSP and DTW newspapers call it an acquisition. DAL acquired NWA. Please no more flamebait.
" I think a lot of fractional pilots were hired a few years ago. That's why the fractionals were hiring."
THAT...is a Helluva' statement.
You can set your watch by that one.
