Can't think of any reasonable person who wants to move his faimly to a place where you have to be indoors for at least 6 months a year, otherwise you are risking frost bite, or, better yet, a city with one of the highest crime rates in the country.

You are right - it's terrible here. Stay away, save yourselves! :cartman: I'm not sure who will be left to fly here after everyone bids down to ATL. :bomb:

If we're talking base comparisons, NWA doesn't have a leg to stand on. Everyone in this industry knows that NWA and CO have the worst bases of the legacies. Everyone i know coming up through the ranks chose NWA and CO as their last resort back when everyone was hiring (bases offered was a major reason). This is common knowledge and if you try and dispute this, you are either from MSP or DTW, or you are just B.S.ing yourself. Sorry...

You have 3 freezing cold Northern bases, a small senior rain filled base, and Memphis for God's sake.

Atleast at DL, you have a large Southern City with alot to offer....you can also live in places like Charleston, Savannah, Gulf Coast (quick easy commute to ATL)....CVG is a nice midwestern city with Northern Kentucky which is beautiful and cheap! SLC you have the mountains, Park City, skiing etc...beautiful place. LAX, you can live down in San Diego, Monterrey, shoot the list goes on and on with this one.....NYC, living in Manhatten is something any single guy/girl should do for awhile in their life, i'm not but atleast at DL you have the choice.

It's about options, lots of them all over the country. NWA bases are VERY LIMITED and as a whole, there is no diversity. Now you former NWA guys have a whole lot more to choose from, enjoy!

I hope that there will be more NWA guys based in MSP that go for ATL or SLC, than DAL guys that want MSP. Yeah Msp is very cold in the winter but overall minneapolis has more to offer than most other cities to live. Plymouth MN was voted the #1 place in the US to live in for a family which took into consideration a whole ton of things. Yeah its cold here but its not 90 degrees and humid all summer either like ATL, PHX DFW etc

Someone took the time to put this together. Gives a good idea of what you can hold/bid/displace to. Bottom number is bottom reserve, and includes total positions equip/base. Enjoy

Does anybody know what assumptions were used to put this list together. There are several things on here that make me believe this is not an accurate depiction of the base seniority. As one example if the most Jr F.O.'s in MEM first filled up the DC9 then from there the next more senior went to the A320 why is the jr DC9 guy one number off the jr A320 guy?

Another thing, How is it that a guy who is currently 25 from the bottom on the MD in SLC now shows eight hundred seniority numbers above the bottom MD guy....this is impossible since the majority of NWA guys coming onboard are senior to him. I really dont think this list is accurate and certainly does not seem to factor what is certain to remain higher senority bases such as SLC and LAX. SEA shows up plenty senior though. For all intents and purposes a FDAL guy might as well forget that is even a base. The most jr guy on the A330 there goes more senior than 777 captain anywhere in the FDAL system.

Once airplanes start to move bases this list becomes even less reliable.

I don't believe there are any assumptions. This list shows the new seniority number for the most junior person in each seat. What it does not say is if NWA seats are reserve or line holder. I guess that is most junior reserve guy now.

I just looked at it, its because alot of the junior MEMDC9FOs bid off to the airbus in DTW or MEM. There used to be more junior guys on the -9 in Memphis but now they are temping people there because they are short in MEM. fwiw

Just looked at it, the DC9 is now more senior than the A320 in MEM  . I didnt realize it until just now.

Most junior NWA Seniority numbers in the positions are:

MEM320FO-5164
MEMDC9FO-5156

(for January)

For MAY it is as shown, the difference between the two positions is 1 number. Just means they will be temping more people down to MEM to cover what they need, like they are doing now.

OK this makes sense. So it has no forward looking ability. Just where people are now and about to radically change.

Hate to break it to you southern yee-haws, but contrary to your own inner voices, half of the people in the country LOVE snow and change of seasons that we have up north. I personally would choose NW or DL, simply because of that and the fact that I would NEVER want to live in some hellish overly "urbanized" place. I wouldn't stoop to ANY DL base if I wanted to work there
