John Deere World Headquarters is seeking a Captain to be responsible for the safe transport of company personnel during domestic and international flights. In this position, you will:

• Pilot the aircraft. A minimum of 50% travel time away from Moline, IL. Flight time may include weekends, holidays, and off-hours as the business needs dictate.
• Review emergency procedures and brief passengers regarding these procedures.
• Ensure the airworthiness of the aircraft.
• Review operational procedures for all John Deere Corporate flight operations.
• Compute aircraft performance in accordance to the conditions of the flight and ensure limitations are not exceeded.
• Research current weather conditions along with forecasts, trends, "notices to airmen" and Temporary Flight Restrictions for points of departure, destinations and alternates on the route of the flight, to ensure safety.
• Calculate Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) for the flight plans and file them with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
• Ensure all pilots, aircraft and passenger qualifications and documentation is current and meets regulations for federal and state operations.
• Address passenger needs such as security requirements, ground transportation, catering and baggage.
• Must posses strong customer service skills and a high degree of confidentiality.

Qualifications
Education

• BS degree desired, but not required.

Required Skills and Experience

• 5-7 years of Captain experience with a corporate and/or charter aviation service.
• Accumulated a minimum of 4000+ flight hours with turbine and/or jet equipment.
• Must be willing to travel at least 50% of the time domestically and internationally.
• Obtained Commercial pilot Rating and Instrument Rating with Multi-Engine Rating.
• Single Pilot Operations hours.
• Must be able to pass FBI background check and 1st Class medical
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good interpersonal skills and team oriented.
• Skill in planning and organizing.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Prefer Airline Transport Rating (ATP), but not required until pilot has completed Type Rating in a Deere & Company aircraft.

You guys sound surprised that they didn't call you. However, if your profiles are correct, you are not qualified in anything JD operates. I am sure they received many qualified resumes from pilots with time in type. Why would they want to go out and hire a green guy (no pun intended) to only train them in a new airplane?

You must be kidding!!! By casting away people not typed in the aircraft a company operates, they are overlooking a group of pilots in which there are great people who would fit in well at the department and do a fine job. If you honestly think it's the right thing to do by only seeking people only rated in their aircraft, then how did you get work in any aircraft you have not rented? Oh, are you a gulfstream airlines pilot? Either way, you way of thinking lets me know just the type of person you are and you confirm the fact that you are a loser. What an idiot.

The main reason most corporate flight departments have personnel issues are due to one of four reasons. The CP or Manager does not posess any people skills and real professional leadership abilitities, they will only hire their buddies who are usually an extension of the incompetence, they hire based on economics only to save the company $$$ and hire a potential idiot because he's typed. (they think it will financially benefit them in the future)

You also have the managers out there that have the "Napolean Syndrome"
They manage by intimidation, hire people who are desperate for work and if you professionally and respectfully disagree with them regarding a safety issue........they threaten to fire you.

A friend of mine who I flew Citation X's with applied and interviewed for that first posting some 6 months ago.. they called his current employer and then proceeded not to hire him. Needless to say, the current employer "furloughed" him at their first opportunity... it worked out for him as he's now dropping gear on a 737 for SWA.

The worse part is that he met the DO for the operation at FSI while in CE750 recurrent which is what got him the interview.. and still didn't get hired!

I just heard.. He apparently had a CPT that was his instructor way back write him a letter..


So, can you get me on with US Air/ AWA /DAL or what ever you guys are called these days? I'm going stir crazy waiting on AA, and have my CV's out everywhere (well, almost).. I figure as these recalls from UAL, CAL, etc.. hit, there will be vacancies at some of the ACMI, and other Cargo 121's..

Just glad to be away from that "trucking company"!

Hmmmm.... isn't human resources supposed to keep that info quiet. I understand a company might question his loyalty, but HR shouldn't jeopardize a guys job just because he is looking around.

Jet Blue is another outfit that does crap like that.. called my last employer about a good friend who'd interviewed, and then proceeded to never hire him.. Needless to say, he never did see a new type rating before he finally gave up and left.
