Did things not work out at NJA? I thought that you had a class date with us. Either way best of luck with Deere. Coming from a farming background, Deere is the best out there. They are very stable right now and will be far into the future.

I was sure I'd be in class at NJA right now too but for reason Jerry said I didn't fly that silly little sim good enough. It wasn't the prettiest sim ride but my steep turns were within 50' and never more than 1/2 a dot off the loc/glideslope. Who knows? Like someone else just siad, everything happens for a reason.

You guys sound surprised that they didn't call you. However, if your profiles are correct, you are not qualified in anything JD operates. I am sure they received many qualified resumes from pilots with time in type. Why would they want to go out and hire a green guy (no pun intended) to only train them in a new airplane?

Yea, well I wasn't qualified in anything TWA, Continental, People Expressuker Britt Airways had either. I expected what I got. A rejection letter.

What I expect is for them to continue the tradition. Hire a known entity that plays a similiar game of golf, drives a similiar vehicle and part his (or her) hair on the same side.

No sir I do not expect a company with their profits to actually "train" a new hire. I expect the uninitiated to immediately walk in off the street with daddy's type in hand and start wiping down struts.

I had forgotten about International Harvester. My dead grandpa would be pissed.

I also forgot about his old Oliver. The first vehicle I ever drove. Hydraulic front end loader w/PTU.

He waited until my mom left for the store. I was probably 9.

I was the same way with the fist machine i drove, it was a IH Combine (1460) My dad made me wait till my mom left so i could drive it otherwise she would b!^(H. Now i just fly over the Iowa ever other weekend and help friends out on the farm....it gives me the farm boy experiance i missed out on..haha.

I found it during a Google image search. Typed in spitfire and it came up on the first page. I don't know who the artist is but I'm going to try and find out. Just thought it was cool.

It was originally 265x198 px so I had to use crop it 150x150 for the avatar.

Right now I have an older 2240 (50 horse) with front end loader and bush hog. Not a "real" farm tractor, but perfect for 5 acres. Also a JD rider. Not really a tractor, I think it's an LX172.

When I was growing up, my family had an old Minneapolis Moline tractor that a relative had converted to LP gas. Could pull a 4 bottom plow pretty efficiently, and we baled thousands of bales of hay every summer with it.

I wonder whether that would qualify me for a job there?

That one had a hand clutch and a live PTO. You could swing the bucket seat to one side and stand on the deck to the right of the PTO. But whatever you did, for god's sake don't fall off, cause you'll get chopped into mincemeat by that damn PTO!

Like I said, nothing better. I'm not sure that I know of many same-class tractors that could match a Minny's speed, power, and reliability. Our 2 1940's U models are still worked hard every year. The only weird thing with them is that danged split cylinder head.

Our Minnie was great... I never heard of the split cylinder head. Maybe because I was a young whipper-snapper at the time. All I can remember is that we once had to replace the clutch, which required splitting the entire tractor in two! Very expensive, and had to be done in a shop. JD tractor clutch replacement required removing maybe 2 inspection plates and a few hand tools. I sure do miss those old putt-putts!

They are looking for 3000 hr FO's in Moline. Looks like a pretty decent job.
