It would only make sense that if you had read that email yourself, and knew enough about it that you fly for JB as well. If you do, you know where to go to get your questions answered directly and you don't need to get them here on Flightinfo.com.

You are right the direct link does not work. So http://www.jetblue.com/workhere/ and go job listings and then 'Flight' and then 'Pilot'.

Since all we fly right now is the A320, that is the plane we are hiring into. When, sometime *next* year, after a master bid, the E190 needs to be crewed with new-hires then folks will get the chance to choose a class. If you are in the hiring process now you will have the chance to be a E190 captain pretty dang quick. Just what I heard at a JetBlue pilot meeting from VP types, but feel free to double guess them.

Please ignore all the anti-Jetblue guys and their rhetoric. It is just like Skygod said, the minimums are the same for both aircraft even if we only have one type aircraft on the property today. The reason that our website doesn't state "pick an aircraft" is; 1) We do not currently operate E190's & 2) When we do, WE WILL HAVE ONE MASTER SENIORITY LIST!! I don't know how else to put it. I know this is probably the first inquiry you have made and you may be new here on Flightinfo but this subject has surfaced countless times and there are some folks out there that just can't understand plain english. (sorry for my ranting).

My suggestion is that if you want to fly for Jetblue (on either aircraft eventually) you should put in your application right away to get the ball rolling. Despite what you have read here on this forum, they are beating the doors down to get to work here and I am sure it will stay that way.

Unfortunately, this forum has gone downhill in the past few months and has gotten away from the valuable resource it once was. Now, all you see anymore is mud slinging, name calling, and just plain Jetblue bashing. It is fun sometimes, but getting old quick. Anyway, if you really want some good straight, honest input and answers from the gang at Jetblue, just ask and you'll get it.

Actually, I couldn't afford the pay cut for that long, but a friend did, and he was hired and with in 8 months was flying packaged at Fedex, an airline that pays professional pilot wages.

Ok, well, look at first year pay (just talking hourly rate) for FedEx and JB.

FedEx = 1st year SO, $50 an hour
FedEx = 1st year FO, $52 an hour
JB = 1st year FO, $51 an hour.

Oh yea, big disparity there as you can see. And, I am sure the upgrade to our lowly Captain "unprofessional" pay is much sooner than at FedEx, but I may be wrong. Do some math then shoot your mouth off again.

And as far as "professional" wages go, I'll go ahead and quote what I do know:

My wages are north of $200k a year, without all the other stuff like matching 401k, profit sharing, discount stock purchase, and options (which for some, are indeed worthless today, I'll concede that one).

But, that's just chump change to you, right?

as for my TT of 5000... you're a fool if you think JB was not hiring guys with 4000-5000 a few years back when I though about applying.... I know of a few who got on with less than 4000... quality of time pal, not quantity.... for example 9000 TT with 5000 as a CFI isn't the same as 5000, with 1000SIC 727, 3000 PIC in DA2000, CE750 and CE560, as well as ATR72 and CRJ 121...

Agreed, but his statement read: "I can't take the paycut for that long" indicating what I believe to be initially. Without a doubt the pay (nevermind benefits) at FedEx is far superior to Jetblue's in just a few years. That wasn't my point. He never stated for how long down the road he was talking. And he used a friend of his that apparently left JB after 8 months to go to FedEx. I say good for him, really. If you're not happy doing what you are doing pay don't mean squat.

Fortunately for me and a lot of others at Jetblue, we are very happy doing what we are doing AND making pretty good scratch (as you put it).

It just puzzles me why some folks just have to argue for the sake of arguing.

When you consider the additional costs that the legacy airlines have to incur to train on several types (due to their varying mission), both pilot, and mechanics... consider all the different parts they need to stock, all the international requirements, etc... how do you expect them to compete with a domestic only airline that to start with pays 50% less than industry average wages for 2000, and then works more days and flies more hours on those days??? Face it, your dragging us all down to the bottom!

Rather than argue with me, ask Niedelman (or what ever his name is) to start paying & treating you like A320 pilots, and not CRJ-70.. give Horizon 4 more years and they'll get ahead of you.

I did go to Airlinepay.com to get those numbers. You originally made a statement about taking a pay cut and something about your buddy within 8 months or something. Anyway, I am done arguing with you, you aren't worth my time.

I've got news for you. Industry average wages for 2000 are long gone. I wish it wasn't so, but those are the facts.

Look, I think it goes without saying that we all (meaning every airline pilot) would love for 9/11 to have not happened, oil to remain at $18/barrel, and the tech bubble to have continued to expand until we all retired. That would have allowed airlines to continue to increase their yields, and of course pay substantial wages. But the facts are that there's been a paradigm shift in the airline industry, not brought about by a small 61 aircraft airline (we really are still a gnat on a horse's ass). This shift, in my opinion, has accelerated due to the consumer being much more informed on price points (ie the internet). JetBlue is simply capitalizing on a business model that works in this new economy.

In regards to Jbu320 earning over 200K a year - I can vouch for him as I've flown with him. My guess is he can retire very comfortably in a few short years He's a check airman that earns an override, plus with his seniority he can fly trips that are highly productive. Those of you that simply look at an hourly rate and multiply by 1000 need to think a little outside the box. We still have a trip rig and duty rig that is on par with the legacy airlines, we get paid block or better, and we make 150% premium on credit over 70 hours. It really isn't hard to get credit for 90+ hours and only block in the low eighties. Those with enough seniority, (Jbu320) can bid trips with deadheads in them that originate where they might live (we have a lot of guys that live in FL and can pick up a deadhead to work). All told, you can easily get paid for 1100-1200 hours a year without breaking the 1000/yr FAR (and pretty much any hours over 840 are paid at time and a half).

BTW, I wouldn't call a profit sharing check in the 20K range BS.

of course cargo can create more revenue than pax...duHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...

also their pilots endure a few but critical additional health hazards, how much radiation and hazmat do the fedex carriers carry. what are the long term health concerns for that? i would hope they make A LOT more than pax pilots...they deserve it if they have to sweat going to the oncologist at a tender age of 40!

i think we all can get used to the days of 300K a year pilots are gone...**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**! shoulda flown during the "catch me if you can" years. i think the major common link to those bashing JB is 1) ENVY...of course they will deny to the last day. lets face it...maybe with exception to swa most of us would want to work there. ummmm 400 plus a/c in the next what...8-10 years? who wouldn't have want to get on with swa 20 years ago...AND even today!

i am still waiting for a good reason not to want to work at JB...still can't find any...just envious youngsters bitter for some reason or other...at least i admit...i'll take it in a heartbeat. Envy? If you say so. I like reading the JB threads especially when they start claiming to earn north of 200k and also saying how they are more economically more productive than the legacy pilots. We carry tons of haz, die early because of the night flying and have the accidents to prove that optimization has its limits. Also, looking out 8-10 years is questionable methodology. Just pull out some of those 2000 Air Inc. mags...

Dont try too hard KingKong... it's all a bunch of BS just to try and justify how they along with others are the single largest factor (more than 9/11, Oil, etc...) in bringing down our profession.
