Is the Piaggio a two man crew or not?

If flying a jet is of no importance to anyone, why is there such bickering and jockeying for position every time your pathetic company TRIES to bring a jet on board? Oh, I can answer that- jet time is what brings the bacon home.

The P180 is an awesome airplane- I've flown it a little and I like it. That being said, jet performance is different than " jet like performance."

On a different note, word is that the new money people over there are trying to get rid of your CEO. Any update on that?
 
Hmmm... I wasn't here when the Premiers came on board but I don't recall any "bickering and jockeying" when the Astra came. Can you give us some specific examples of this "bickering and jockeying" that went on when the Astra was brought on board? Since it happens "every time" I'm sure you can provide a plethora of examples.

I could, sir, but I can tell by the tone of your post that it would be wasted on you, so I won't bother.

If Avantair ever brings a fleet of jets on board, hire all the pilots that you need for them off the street and keep your current pilots in the Piaggio, and you'll find out real fast that flying a turboprop is not what most people aspire to. :beer:

I think once the luster of any aircraft wears off at the end of the day its all about how much you are paid and the QOL for which you make it.

While I don't agree with some of the things you you say on this forum, and I'm sure likewise is also true. I do have to admit you have been correct to a certain extent on some of the rumors and questions you have asked. You have made many valid points and made observations that many have missed. With that said I believe we have many outstanding pilots and all have a stake in it being a stable and profitable company, after all we all have bills to pay and mouths to feed. While your comment of a "pathetic company" was offensive to many of us who still work here, I do believe you also would like to see this company succeed.

An intelligent and insightful post. I have known and still know many outstanding pilots at your company. As a pilot, I have no wish to see any company fail. When I said " pathetic company", I should clarify that to mean the lying, stupid jerks that are in upper management. I'm glad to hear that steps are being taken to weed them out.

You can tell by my above post that I'm not an unreasonable person. The bickering and jockeying, phone calls, and bull******************** that have gone on in relation to who flies what and many other issues would more than clutter up many pages in this forum.

You've said yourself that you havent been there long enough to know everything, and that's the smartest thing you've said. I don't badmouth anybody unless it's warranted. Translation: You don't know squat.

But I was here when the bid went out for the Astra and I didn't see and of this bickering and jockeying that you know so much about. I'm still wondering how putting a bid out for an airplane and having the pilots selected on the basis of seniority combined with the hourly mins set by the owner equate to jockeying and bickering. I know three of the selected pilots personally and they all had less than 1 year of seniority when they were awarded the airplane, so it hardly seems any weaseling was involved. I'll firmly declare that you don't have the goods to back up your statement, nor do you have the balls to admit it - coward. You say you don't want to air our dirty laundry on here, yet you never hesitate to badmouth us at every opportunity. It's sad that someone who is as well-spoken as you wish nothing but ill-will upon our company and it's employees. Sad, indeed.

While I agree with everything you said, it's not worth it to argue with someone like peebles. He's holding on to a grudge that he can't let go of and will never listen to anyone who might have something good to say about Avantair. Your heart is in the right place, but your effort to reason with him is futile.

That is the exact truth. If I could get paid jet wages to fly a turbo-prop around and be home more I would consider it. Jets are cool, but they built for serious travel and that means a lot of time away from home. The issue is you can't get paid jet wages unless you fly one.

No grudges here, friend. Just intelligent enough to know a dirtbag operation when I see one. Not because of the operation per se, but because of the scum that runs it.

P.S. being ask to slow down for a Citation is not a big career acomplishment.

250 hours and your telling me that tprops are tprops? Hey Jack, I'm typed in a 727 and have over 1,000 hours Jet Turbine PIC. Let me fill you in on a little something... A Turbo Prop is a power plant just like a Jet is a power plant. The mass of air moving aft doesn't care what moved it. I've worked at good companies and I've worked at crap companies. What matters is quality of life and the amount of money I bring home. The clerk at the grocery store doesn't give a dang about props and jets and the mortgage company doesn't seem to care either. The only fools that seem to care are runny nose, backpack tote'n, frosted hair, ipod wear'n, shinny jet syndrome, can't pay my student loan cause I owe 100K+ and work for 12K a year, gods of aviation with a whole 250+ hours such as yourself. How 'bout you update your resume to swing chairs at a ski resort in the winter and instruct surfing in the summer.

After all that said, with all your time why did you choose the worst of all the fractionals? You should have waltzed right in to nj.
 
The world is not a pyramid. It doesn't shake out that there is one holy place that all pilots aspire to be and everywhere else is a step down. Is NJ a good company? Sure. And I don't knock anyone that goes there. However NJ has 400 some planes and 2600 some pilots. That means you have to wait until they have 800 some planes and over 5000 pilots until you can think about upgrade.

When I hired onto Avantair they had 26 planes with 59 firm orders for a plane that I think will do well in a world increasing fuel costs. I was hired as pilot 105 plus or minus 10 or so. I have to wait until they have 50 planes and 200 pilots until I upgrade. Avantair needs to hire 100 pilots until my upgrade. NetJets needed to hire 2,500. So I'm doing the math and rolling the dice. On the one hand I have worse pay and benefits than NJ. On the other hand I have the opportunity to be double digit on a seniority list that I can't see the limit to. Sure Avantair could crap out and I lose. But the benefits outweigh, in my opinion, the risk. I've lived my life thinking that it's unwise to "follow the crowd". What's Mr. Frost say? "I took the path less traveled and that has made all the difference." or something to that effect.

Anyway. I went to a job fair and NJ gave me the app package. I never filled it out. Perhaps I'll look back at that with regret, but for now I'm very happy where I'm at. My bet is (and I've lost a few bets in my life) that this choice will work out for me and my family. Good luck to you and I'm sorry I jumped on ya so hard before.
