I guess US Scare started charging more for aisle seats. So when I get my fully refundable ticket from MRY-IAH for $ 170.00 I get stuck in the window seat of two packed flights. I almost went nuts, that is a miserable experience. Has anyone else noticed this happening.

Nickel and diming your customers is no way to maintain loyality, or provide customer service. If they need more money out of the fares, they should charge what they SHOULD be charging across the board.

The good news is the more they pull this crap, the more people they send our way.

Heck the fat guys in aisle never have to pee either. I swear they moved those airbus seat closer together.

Actually, the A320 fuselage allows for 1" more seat room across each seat than the Boeing tube.

Sorry, America must have gotten fatter.

Good to see you the other day amigo. I feel your pain with the window or middle seat thing. Try it from EWR to the left coast some time :uzi:

In the future, I think I'm going to pull out the company card and pay for the aisle on the long flights and expense it. The worst they can do is say no.....

I hate to be the one to tell you this but all of the Airlines are starting to charge for extra legroom, extra bags, and I think they should. Fares shloud absolutely be higher, this is just a tactic by management to say hey we have $89 fares, then in small print , taxes, airport fees, excess baggage fees, fuel surcharges, extra legroom charges, aisle seats, blah blah blah not included.. Also the people that are buying $89 dollar fares are not the people that are going to buy into fractional ownership.

Actually, most of us agree the airlines need to charge more for the ticket. Just price it so that it is included in the fare and not an add-on that we end up paying if we don't want to be stuck between Mutt and Jeff across the country.

There are fractional owners that fly commercially. We are not their only mode of transportation. Nickel and dime tactics are gong to piss off some more people to send our way. I say let them do it. Every time I go by the lost baggage counter and see a pile of lost bags, I see $$$$$$$ for us.

gunshotdraw, glad you see my point.

Good to see you also. I guess in addition to my many other flaws I am also claustrophobic . I could not do that window or middle seat coast to coast. I guess if we put our foot down on this we could persuade our Travel Dept.

I absolutely agree, charge more and provide some kind of customer service. Heck I'd rather just stick a FedEx sticker on my asss and absolutely, positively get there overnight. No TSA either.

That's going to have to be a BIG sticker. :D

Sorry. I couldn't resist.

I would gladly pay extra for a window seat. At least I can lean over on that side and it 'feels' like you have more room. The only thing I hate worse than an aisle seat is the middle seat.

United just got rid of the 500 mile thing. So, if you fly 54 miles you get 54 miles not 500. Yey.

Got that e-mail yesterday too. Won't have to worry about it tomorrow though. 7300 miles......on United.......on a senior trip.......ugh.

2A for this guy. :)

I don't like 1a because of the bulkhead.

Of course for the last couple of weeks I've been getting 1A. Sadly its a 1900 to hpn. :)

Wow... the airlines sure do suck for your frac guys...

Maybe everyone would like to move to about 5 specific cities the company chooses...

Oh wait... NJA tried that....

you get to choose to live in allot of places... and that is worth the center or window seat many times... so the airlines stink....but not really...

Yeah, like that'll happen with pilots.

PS- Riding the airlines does stink! Just because it's part of the job doesn't mean it's enjoyable. Or that anyone will ever stop complaining about it.

You are missing the point....

If it wasn't for the airlines your choices to live would be limited. That alone is worth it...

Fact is... without the airlines the frac job wouldn't be worth it...

Consider how effective the Frac business model would be w/o the airlines. Then consider how good the frac pilot job would be...

So the window and center seat stink... but not really... small inconvenience for a great job.

I am convinced that we are eventually moving toward using ferry flights for crew transport. Maybe when are one big happy family.

Actually, I prefer the window seat. And other than yourself, I challenge you to find one single individual who would prefer a center seat. It does stink.

As for making the fracs a better job, I can't argue that the airlines aid in that department. But sorry, they aren't the be-all and end-all for the fracs.

Great wages and benefits along with a good schedule make the fracs what they are. It's only speculation on my part, but I'd put good money on the a guess that had we had the wages , benefits, and schedules 5 years ago that we do now, NJA wouldn't have needed more than 5 bases because folks would still be flocking here for work. Look at the other fracs. They don't have nearly the number of bases we do, but are experiencing good positive growth, and the increase in pilots that comes with it, without lots of bases. What they have (not including FLOPS) are good wages, benefits, and schedules.

And yes, we do use the airlines to get from our home bases to work and back, we'd still get by without them. Probably fewer bases, and a decrease in efficiency, as we'd have to ferry the planes more to move crews, but NJA started out like that and I'm sure they could figure out a solution to make it work again.

All the bases are nice, but they really aren't the biggest reason most folks are coming to work here.

Anyway, the whole point of the thread is that while riding on the airlines is a necessary evil, and will continue to be so, it still is the worst part of the job (which to me means that the job is pretty darn good!). No matter how much they aid in making the job better, it still sucks to ride on them.
