Regional pilots pissed off at regional pilots for taking jobs away? Isn't that the whole existence of the regionals - to take jobs away from the majors?

Isn't this "the pot calling the kettle black?" Maybe the truth hurts, but the reality is that major airline jobs have been sacrificied to the regionals because of the lower costs, and the GJ experiment is just the next step.

And there lies the problem.. Pilots vs pilots. When is this group going to wise up and quit allowing all these mgmt companies pit us against each other?? I dont think the average regional pilot took any jobs from the majors...It was Major Airline Mgmt giving it away for a profit. Etc Etc Blah blah blah... fill in your own argument but enough of pilots being angry with pilots. With the exception of those Gateway bastards..

I agree, the same guys who are all wound up about these "scum" "stealing" their flying are the same guys who showed up in their cute little jets and "stole" my flying years ago. They didn't just take flying that used to be done by the mainline, but flying that used to be done by more respectable commuters, who were making more money flying smaller equipment. It is the pot calling the kettle black to sit there in your RJ and look with such distaste on the neighboring RJ because you pay ALPA dues and he does not. Are they making that much less than you, anyway? When you say they are guilty and hide their IDs, did you do that same thing as you strutted around the hub airport while I watched more of you take the gates where I used to park, and fly off on the routes I used to fly? Probably not. I know what it feels like to be outsourced, and now you too are being outsourced. I wouldn't go nuts calling these guys scabs when you yourself came in to do the job I was doing for less money, with an inferior contract. This is just the next step, and it is a truly unfortunate one in the race to the bottom. It is just another stage in the race. Don't get me wrong, I oppose GJ and everything it stands for. I think it is wrong and evil. I do think you should see it the way I see it before you call a guy a scab. He's not flying struck work, he's just flying the airplane next door to you, like you were flying the one next door to me. In all sincerity, good luck making GJ go away, it'd be a step to stop the race to the bottom.

G0jet was started by TRANS STATES HOLDINGS for the purpose of getting cheap labor instead of using thier own pilots..

Please don't make assumptions. I flew 50-seat jets and turboprops. I'm not offended by any of it. I'm simply stating a fact that the regionals exist to reduce the cost of the major. That was true when I worked there, and it's true now.

I just find it ironic that people slam GJ guys for doing exactly what we all do - take the job that's offered. People can stand on their high horse and claim they would be too good to work for (fill in the blank) company, but the reality is that if you work for any company that accepts a lower wage or decreased work rules, you're just as guilty as the GJ guys.

We're all the same. GJ guys will work non-union, United guys will sell out their retirees. We're all in it for ourselves, today, and if you believe otherwise, you're sucking on some Great Pilot Brotherhood Fantasy Teet.

Cripes, some of you really need a history lesson!!

The whole reason my airlines flying was outsourced to the regionals is NOT because we refused to fly the RJ...It was because we refused to fly the RJ for the dirtbag wages that the regionals would!

We had F-28 pay still in the contract, a plane smaller than many of the current RJ's, only problem was that pay was still 30% HIGHER than what they are paying the current RJ crowd.

This GJ thing is simply the natural progression of the process started then. In fact on another message board I got hammered 5 years ago for stating the obvious, When they are done outsourcing us (majors) they will outsource you (regionals). I believe the RJ guys reply was something to the effect of "It will never happen old man, we are too valuable to mgmt!!"

Jeebus!!! You boys need to figure out who the real enemy is here! And it isn't some clod flying an RJ around for a non-union company!

Ballots will be mailed on February 1, 2006 and the voting period will expire on February 23, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time, with ballots being counted immediately thereafter.
Teamsters Local 618 is the only Labor Organization on the ballot. President Dan Heumann stated that this organizing drive has been a long battle that appears to be coming to a conclusion.
