Yeah. A lot of folks were on the old Propilot.com web board that was run by a Skywest guy. (remember Doc's FAR Forum?) He shut it down as that place took a dive. I came over here then around 1999.

My how times have changed. Not many UAL scantron questions or comments how Southwest is destroying the industry!

I remember it from late 99, I think I posted a question about airtran early 2000 or so. that was back when you could log in as someone new for every post. then in late 2001 or early 02 it became the email confirmation based reg. that it is now if i remember correctly .

Yeah I still have my UAL scantron sheet along with an update scantron. I also have an "welcome to airtran" package and a blank midway and midwest application.

I have been on this forum since around 1997. I have changed names once, as has Blue Dude, and a few others. AvBug has been here a long time, Enigma too.

The board was originally started by a fellow Aviator named Mark, who is no longer with us. He was quite a guy. I still have some emails and PM's from him. He lost his life in a Lear 35 accident, and a friend stepped up to run this board and try to earn some revenue for the family that Mark had to leave behind. Perhaps someone with more recent knowledge can fill in the rest of the story.

Thank you Mark. You helped me and thousands of others learn about our industry, our profession, pass along techniques, find employment, and have some laughs along the way. God bless you.

Ty

Easy Children, EASY!

To all of my children out there.....

Yes, I have been on this board for years, and it has given me a lot. I actually enjoy the banter, and I like giving smackdowns and taking krap too. Yes, I am still married, and we have fun together. Yes, I still lift weights and ride bikes, and I think I look FANTASTIC. I still don't EVER want to fly to LBB, or to only fly 737s on multiple leg days with 25 minute turns, forever. I still think the Comair guys were jerks after 9-11, and those guys should suk it. I still think some of the SkyWest guys will do anything for larger planes. I still think Ozone Park and Yonkers are great places for Jetblue guys to live. I actually like Ty Webb now.(we had a rough start) I think CRJ567 works at the local McRonalds and brings home urinal cakes to eat before he lays in his straw/hay bed. Tankerclown and Frank Lorenzo make me laugh. And, I am glad we merged with NWA.

So, I can't wait for my 7 year anniversary, and my 13,000th post. IT WILL SIMPLY BE FANTASTIC, and I will jump up and down---right after I lift some weights and ride my bike upon returning from a fantastic RIO trip.

Bye Bye---General Lee

Heh-heh! Back at ya, General Lee! By the way, I have been flying with a lot of the Delta Guys who had to make a very tough choice, and chose to "retire" to save their retirement fund. . . . probably a couple dozen.

They have all been class acts to fly with . . . . anyone that can go from being a 767-ER Check Airman to flying FO for Ty Webb is quite a guy, and a true professional, no doubt about it.

web.archive.org lists the first page from May of 1998. Here is a link if a few of you want to ride the "way back machine."

Wow! Even appears to have some of the original postings:

Man, that was a true blast from the past! I saw a few of mine on there that I had long forgotten about . . . The Industry sure has changed since then, but F.I. was the Wild West then, and a lot of fun.

Best Quote I saw: "I'd rather have a sister in a whorehouse, than a brother that PFT'd"

Ahhh . . . . Memories . . . .

I popped in around 1998. Dialup modem only. (I wasn't at TWA yet.) I was on the Compuserve AvSig before then.

I remember when floppy discs were 8" and gay meant happy.

Bye Bye---General Lee

Wait a second, I remember being on here long before 7 years ago. That has to be wrong. Wasn't there a thread "Where in the World is General Lee" back around 9-11? I was on vacation for awhile as I remember....

Bye Bye--General Lee

At least 10 years for the SWA/FO...

Started checking the place out in '97? Could have been earlier, if it was around, not sure. Used to also check out propilot.com; run by a Skywest guy if I remember correctly. FARdoc had a good sub-forum for FAR questions. Don't think either one is operating anymore.

Oddly enough, I'm member number 23 out of 84,000 and change.. I think that's from when the site changed from the old msg board system to the current vbulletin format.
