Don't breathe yet..... I was hired 3 weeks before sept 11! Bags were packed and ready to go at any moment and wammmo!!! I waited 7 years for another chance. I was in the CP's office once a year to remind them when the hiring starts again, that this was my number one choice all along. Unfortunately for me I landed at NetJets and thought I found a permanent home. That decision to pass on another hawaiian interview hurts more than anyone will ever know.i was one one of the lucky ones... i'm in class for the 8th... pretty stoked right now... heard there will be five of us... got the notice three days after phase 3... that made it just a day before the two week notice...
i personally believe persistence is the key... unless you have a family member there... but for me, i just kept up the face time... not in a crazy way, just keeping up with the latest news, talking with the CP every other month, talking with my connections, making sure my name was a common one around the halls...
they are doing another round of interviews this week... looks like phase 1 for mon-wed then phase 2 i think on fri...? best of luck to everyone! never give up... i pushed for 4 years and it finally paid off... aghhhhhhh i can finally breathe.....
Good job 808, and welcome to HA! And if you do get the Airbus, you could be flying with Dan Roman or myself. (I'm doing the upgrade on da 'bus).Congrats and glad to hear it! You may be flying with me on the AirBus!
You just upgraded so you wouldn't have to fly with me!(I'm doing the upgrade on da 'bus).

Only a momentary stay of pain for you. Eventually you'll hear the siren song of the Airbus again, and have to come to the dark side! You just upgraded so you wouldn't have to fly with me!![]()
No. What do you expect them to do for you?would it be appropriate to give my resume to the flight crew?

And for anyone still wondering about further hiring:

We're adding three more 717's later this year. This means an additional 25-30 pilots, on top of all those coming because of the new A330's. Our Crew Planning department must be really scrambling about now!

So I am assuming when a guy gets hired and moves to Hawaii, they usually rent? I remember that homes were very expensive. Do people move to one of the other islands where it can be a little more reasonable? Just looking ahead and having discussions with my wife.
That said, that also means there is lot of opportunity too.
DO you mean a lot of real estate opportunity or flying opportunity? How many pilots live on the other Islands other than Oahu? I am sure if I get an opportunity to interview and be offered a career at HAL I would figure it all out. My wife and kids would very well enjoy the many vacations while we checked out places to move to.
