A couple of questions. Does anyone have the retirement numbers going forward and can anyone estimate how long it would take to hold SEA as a base? Many thanks.

Does anyone know if you get the "thanks, but no thanks letter" after phase 3, can you still be considered for an interview or employment after about a year passing?

I don't think it will be "years" for SEA. Depending on the size of the next few bids and the retirements up there, you could see a number of FO'S upgrading leaving openings in SEA.

Hansoma is right. There's been quite a few very senior FO's in Seattle for the last several years, but with the rumored size of the next bid, I wouldn't be surprised to have a lot of them move up, opening up space for some pretty junior people to step into SEA.

As for the retirement numbers, it's really difficult to put a finger on. About half of the 'over 60' crowd has already retired, even though nobody has reached 65 yet. I'm sure some will stay as long as they can, and some will go out before 65, but the numbers are flexible. I think there's roughly 10 to 20 people turning 60 each year for the next 10+ years. Once we reach the point late this year when the 65's have to go, it should balance out to about those numbers each year.

I applied the night the window opened on the 25th.... Two days later I received an automated msg. that my application was incomplete so of course I freaked out. Turns out it was Hawaiian sending the rest of the application that included "flight times, ATP, why you want to work here" questions...

I filled it out and sent it back immediately...

My question is:

Is there any way to verify they received all the necessary application information? My online account says my application was received on the 26th. But nothing concerning the extra section I completed on the 27th. I re-clicked the e-mail link and it allows me to go through the application (similar to editing it) but when you get to the flight time section it's blank again. I assume since it was a link from the e-mail it's just a generic default link? And not what I actually filled out..

Should I try to contact HR just to make sure? Or does anyone have a phone number to call?

Thanks

Rats..I was hoping this thread would get buried somewhere into page three and nobody besides a few hundred pilots in Hawaii would know they are accepting applications:laugh:

Their online application looks as if the programming for it was done by a high schooler. Not very user-friendly. I clicked "apply online" from the list of open jobs and it took me right to the "profile" page. Some of the fields were filled in since I had previously applied to HAL a couple years ago. I corrected them as I went, etc. After going through many pages and submitting my application, I went back to look at my profile on file and saw that it had all of my old email and contact information, old address, old flight times, etc saved. So it appears that is what went with the application when I submitted it. Oh well. There doesn't seem to be any way to correct my profile without redoing the entire application. And then I don't know what will happen if I do because I will theoretically have two different applications on file with different email addresses, flight times, etc. Again, oh well.

And an application that asks what my favorite airplane is and why? Seriously?

Anyone else having trouble accessing the second portion of the app. after already submitting it? I assume all the info was saved and sent correctly but there is no way to verify what info they have.

I can still edit my profile(jobs, criminal background etc) all the way up to it being submitted, but can't access the Flight Grid portion of the app anymore. (after using the link they sent in the e-mail after first applying)

I asked our pilot manager about this and the other similar questions. They are trying to get a read on the individual and this is one of they ways they are using to break an application out of the pile of the pile of 3000 or so they've received.

Got called for the interview... mainlander... very little turbine pic... do not know anyone at HA....

Did u get called recently or r u talking about the past. if recently, when r u going?
im sure we'd all love some info.

I second that- would love to hear if calls or emails have gone out. Also is the time between notice & interview still just a couple weeks? How many are they looking to hire? would be a dream come true!

I applied tuesday june 5th and got an email this morning inviting me to interview in 3 days on june 12th...

New bid came out with lots of additional Airbus slots, 82 more pilots in total.
It's 82 additional slots, plus with retirements, medicals, & executive moves it comes to 95 new-hires. For a company our size that is incredible! :D

No recs... I dont know anyone that works there... I am kind of shocked...

Same here. No recs, but I've dropped my stuff off in person every summer for the last 4-summers (while on family vacation) and still nothing but crickets. Congrats man!

I spoke with one of the people taking the letters of rec and they said that from the day the app window opened they began reviewing apps... I know of three guys that have an interview lined up for tues... Happens quick... And they have hired a bunch of guys that have had no ties to the company... They just happened to have applied a bunch of times in the past... Best of luck... 95 guys for the year is a good amount....

From talking to people I know there and from knowing a lot of the people getting interviews this early...it sounds like these are all guys/gals that have reapplied again and just missed the cut the last go around so Hawaiian already has a pretty good idea about who they are without having to wade through the stack to pull out the ones with no history.

Heard...previous 1st/2nd interview combined into one day with 3rd interview the following day if selected with an immediate up or down at the end of the process. <--- someone interviewing please confirm.

Also heard interviews twice a month from now until November.

Good luck
