Ohhhhhh-kaaaaaay, I'll bite. Are you suggesting that there's actually something other than small-jet airframe restrictions imposed by mainline bargaining interests fueling the creation of these misbegotten alter-ego airlines?

I think it's ironic that the relentless downward pressure on compensation that characterizes the "race to the bottom" has enabled some of the bottom-feeders to come much closer to competing with mainline jets on a seat-mile cost basis, something they never could have dreamed of five years ago.

So if TSA pilots were to fly the 70 seat jets.... Should AA pilots say that the TSA guys are SCAB's for busting the APA SCOPE Limits? Should the the AA pilots deny the jumpseats to the TSA guys for the AX violations? Should not the AE pilots deny the Jumpseat to the TSA pilots now?

First of all, AE never had a base in STL. TSA and other AX carriers were flying the connection for TWA and stayed in place after the AA/TWA "thing". Are you saying that AE should hire off the street and all the TSA and other AX connection folks should be replaced? Let's see, take away someone else's job and replace them, sounds kind of "SCAB-like" to me. It just isn't that simple.

It gets real complicated. Let's take a few more steps back. The routes that were flown by TWA narrow-body pilots were replace by TSA and other Connection Carriers or by AA new-hire pilots.

The AX arbitration award was due to the fact that AMR increased the amount of flying by AX as they furloughed more TWA pilots from STL. It was wrong to increase the AX flying to the AE pilots as well. I think it would also be wrong to hurt TSA at AE's gain.

I was shown the door 2.5 years ago and I'm not as emotional as you about the subject. What gives?

It just isn't worth the stress.

As far as the jumpseat goes, it should never ever be used as a political tool against off-line JSers. That is wrong and totally unprofessional. It is as bad as management using it as a bargaining tool in contract negociations.

If a real airline pilot with years of dues-paying wants to call Gojetters scum, I can deal with that (please note that I am currently not yet back at my airline, nor am I a gojet candidate).

But when a PFTer wants to beat his chest as though he got to hos position through years of hard work and paying dues, I push the BS button.

PFT whores have sold their credibility, and have no business lecturing ANYONE on the jobs they take.

Also, I bet that when TSA started back in the 80's that they didn't have a union. If that is the case make sure that when you see an 80's hire at work that you refer to him as a "scab".

In the end I bet the GoJet will be union and integrated into TSA.

It has nothing to do with not likeing where they work. I don't like JetBlue, but I would never deny a JetBlue jumpseater just because I'm not a fan of their airline. This has to do with stabbing the TSA pilots in the back. The whole purpose of GoJets is to get around ALPA and screw over the TSA pilots.

You are so correct. It has become the industry lexicon, however I seem to hear it more from the younger group in the business. Back in the 80s and 90s it was very evident "WHAT A SCAB WAS", now it is a flow-back, it is a person whom flies for an airline not liked, he11, it is just used as a word when people get pi$$ed off.

While I don;t agree with many things going on, the two things I do agree with; Don't be political about the jumpseat, and learn what a SCAB really is.

It has nothing to do with compassion regarding the pension issue. I am stating that mistakes were made on the part of pilot groups in that they trusted management. Stating a fact does not make one without compassion. I WILL say that the majority of Americans have no real pension, so I am not exactly crying them a river, you see.

Second, since you have apologized for your contribution to the race to the bottom, then the Gojet guys should get the same forgiveness, Mr. Compassion.

When you are paying big bucks to take a job that would otherwise go to a more experienced and likely more skilled pilot because you arrogantly assue that you are entitled to buy a shortcut, then you are a whore.

Nooooo, since everyone was doing it and since pilots with lots of experience were essentially FORCED to PFT, it was not a shortcut technique.
