The sky is falling the sky is falling. There will never be a long term shortage. Maybe for a few months but there is no shortage.

A pilot shortage doesn't mean what it used to. Yes! There will be a shortage at the regional level but believe it, there will never be a shortage at jobs people actually want. United just announced capacity reduction, not that its a good job, just saying.

They will soon accept body temperatures of less than 98 to cover the flying. Pulse optional depending on prior RJ course completion

If we don't get a coherent, sustainable and pragmatic energy policy in this country and soon. We will all be getting around via horse and buggy again. Pilot shortage is a misnomer.

What the graph doesn't sow is how many of those certificates are for foreigners that are training here in the US. I would like to see the number for US pilot certification. Those numbers would be shocking. Not many us pilots training these days. I bet 1/2 those numbers are for foreigners.

It will give politicians the perfect excuse to "offshore jobs" via cabotage. The MPL is the biggest threat since Ab Initio. Not only could there be foreign crews flying US domestic routes, the F/O will have a few hundred hours without a real pilot's license.

If it were possible to put a dog and a 10-year old up front the FAA would sign off on it and we would be out of a job...An extreme metaphor, but in the future we will see a vast difference in how airplanes are "operated"...The word flying is soon going to be a thing of the past in the lexicon of aviation. Glad I won't live to see it...
