the furloughs suck

But just so you know. I'm well south of 30 and think dooker, art, and shanes are full of ********************.

so were not all the gimme generation screaming for our handout.

When it comes to old people, I find I fit in real well with them. Thats because I'm old!
To all my friends who were furough, you are in my prayers and I hope you are back soon!

Realityman you must have been very fortunate in who you have flown with..Any Comedian will tell you the funny part of a joke is the truth and Dookers post was hilarious. What made it so funny was that it is the truth. Its no fun getting stuck with these old guys and you suddenly become single pilot (and I mean in and out of the plane) Have I flown with young guys that do nothing? YES..But thats more laziness. Good Post Dooker
And back on topic for me. Lets hope Flex Jet gets back up on there feet soon so we can all prosper.

Some of it is laziness, yes. But I've flown with enough younger pilots to know the difference between laziness and lack of skills. And I can say, as an IOE instructor pilot, that the ratio of unskilled (or lost skills) of the older crowd isn't any different from the younger crowd. Most can fly. Some can't.

Anyway, who is worse? Someone who has trouble keeping up with the physical aspects because of age, or someone who is young and can keep up, but chooses not to because of laziness, lack of motivation, and/or the entitlement attitude? If I can't light a fire under the un-motivated young guy, he/she isn't any better than the older pilot who struggles to keep up due to age.

Dookers post was funny. Can't deny it. But I think it was not very accurate. Hey, it's just one opinion. But I've been "single pilot" with young guys too.

But I said it before, and I think it bears repeating: If the only way you can make it in this world is to insist those ahead of you voluntarily get out of your way, then you probably don't deserve the position you're after. Stand on your own two feet, or make way for someone more motivated, innovative, and smarter who can figure out how to make it work without picking off everyone in front of him.

I've had crappy jobs. Been furloughed several times. But I never asked the folks who held the positions I wanted to quit so I could move up.

Here is to all of us getting recalled ASAP, and to all of the NJ pilot's still in denial of what is sure to come, I toast a Coor's Light to ya....

Good luck to us all.

This post in no way is to insult or insinuate anything to any pilot group. And I reserve the right to edit at anytime.

You can include Flops, CS and Flex in that! I hope no NJ guys have to go through this!

My 4 month old thanks you.....

Best of luck to all the Flex guys. This sucks.

And why exactly should anyone "believe" you? That's funny...I didn't know you where the supreme unquestioned authority on NJ pilot staffing. Instead of believing you, I'd rather just laugh at you...loser.

You don't have to you Loser you will see and i'll send you a message when they do A$$. God forbid The all Mighty All Supreme Netjets lays people off. Get your head out of your a$$ Jackoff and smell the coffee you can't sustain that many pilots with no work Schmuck! This is only directed at this wind bag!

That's because the airlines never have anything to gloat about.

Let's make a mandatory retirement age for Frac pilots, if they dont leave, they will be forced to.
Problem solved!!!!!

So 121 is 65 for retirement.
135 and 91K, youre flying the top 10% of our population and no mandatory retirement age.

135 and 91k mandatory 65.

So will this get everyone to stop bickering about old and young pilots.

Ok, no dumping on grandparents. I'm 48, got a 26 year old son and a 2 year old grandson. Does that mean I have to retire?

Next, who says what kind of retirement these guys have? How many pilots do you know went from bankrupt airline to bankrupt airline, getting their pension whacked everytime?

Could some of them go home and live comfortably? Sure. All of them? not likely. And it's not my position to determine which is which.

65 mandatory
121,135, and 91K.

If you operate your plane under 91 then that's your decision on age.

It's wonderful when someone takes it upon them self discount an entire group or class of people. If you want to start writing FAR's, johnny, get a job with the FAA, or better yet get a medical degree and try to understand the aging process and the longevity we all enjoy in this era of medical miracles.
Baiting young and old is not a new game and this twisting of this thread is really a waste of time.

I have no idea the ages of the Flex crews that have been let go, but young or old my thoughts are with them and their families during this difficult time.

Perhaps you should re-pread my post a couple times to see the humor. You are not the only one with kids pal.

I was wondering what all those other little people were doing out there...

There just isn't much humor in that post. Some, but not much. (Although I did appreciate your disclaimer:D)

Regardless, I hope you and everyone else is recalled ASAP. We've all got friends on the street and no one wants to see any more. Here's to a quick end to this BS.

I empathize with the 25 pilots who are being downsized. I pray that we hire them back soon.
As far as the old fart comments, I don't think people with their crass remarks will shame them into retiring. However, I do get tired of hearing how people older than 60 cannot afford to retire due to the stock market. If a person is anywhere close to retirement they should have very little money if any in the stock market. Of course their are the people who have to work forever due to their 4 ex-wives.

I never said we wouldn't layoff, I just pointed out that in you entire life, you've never had, and never will have, even the slightest shred of credibility or knowledge sufficient to ask anyone to "believe" you on anything related to aviation. You act as though you are the authority on NJ, yet you are a clearly just another underachieving hack only looking to revel in someone else's misery just to make yourself feel like less of a failure in life. It's weaklings and cowards like you that turn people away from these boards.

For the record, I don't subscribe to the supposed "superiority" complex of NJ that some on this board have shown. To me, this is still just a job. I don't consider it better or worse than any other job. It works for me and my family, and that's all that matters.

Now run along little guy...get back to your flight instructing!

That was the best burn I think I have ever seen.

Its Beyond me!!

There were actually guys that took early retirement?? I really hope the 8 or 12 65+ and the few 72+ year olds would step up and do the right thing here. I mean if you're over 70 and still continue to work after this layoff--THAT IS JUST WRONG. Not to mention, at 72, you shouldn't be here anyway.

How you beat out millions of other sperm just to be here.

Go ahead Nacho, tell them everything you know. It'll only take 10 seconds! Look at my posts this the 1st and only time I have ever said anything about Netjets. It's a good company. Your just the kind of Person that you could use as a blueprint to build an idiot! Sounds like Mama never gave you a hug in life! First off your right, I am not the authority in anything other than to someone like yourself, in denial, to whats really happenening out there! I have several friends that work there and I actually have had great conversations on the road with all the Netjets guys I have come in contact with other than yourself! Actually its someone like you who discourages people from these boards by jumping down peoples throat. But you know what, my little 172 will still fly faster than that wannabe jet you call a Citation! Now Get that Citation out of the way and stop slowing the rest of the aviation world down... Grow up Dude!

I would much rather fly with a 'older' person beside me than a 30 something dumb******************** ex airline FO who has now got his first captain job.

I hope I never have to fly with you dooker, you sound like a real fun guy to sit beside!

goodluck with your attitude.

Hey!?! Not all of us are that bad.

Have we flown together??? :erm:

Sorry to hear about the layoffs at Flex. Good luck to us all.

Why is someone always trying to run someone elses life. Why are there 70+ year olds working at Walmart? What does doing the "right thing" mean? What does the guy's wife think the "right thing" is? What does his retirement account think the "right thing" is? A 72 year old is under no obligation to leave a job that some 20 or 30 year old thinks they are entitled to. I am sorry people get layed off but it's no reason for someone senior to them to step asside regardless off their age.

I could care less what situation THEY are in. They've HAD a LIFETIME. Most of them 35+ years at the airlines or elsewhere. Why should I suffer because they are ignorant with their finances or they just "LOVE FLYING"? They are grandparents for christ sake. I DO know what situation I'll be in at that age which is exactly why we wouldn't be having this conversation if it were me that was 70 because I have ethical values and morals. I know some of these guys and none of them are here because they HAVE to be. The ETHICAL thing to do here is to let someone who is starting their career have the opportunity they did. They have had their chance, step aside and save someone's family that HAS a future, from turmoil. It IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
If you are so smart and have it all figured out, why might I ask are you in avaition?

Is it the Inuit that push their old people out to sea on ice flows; maybe we could start that down here for asinine posters?

I don't think there are more than a handful of over 65 guys at Flex so their leaving wouldn't save too much.

To bad management didn't seek other options like reducing days worked or something before layoffs. Wonder what other departments are getting reduced as well?
