The time for excuses has expired! They have used them all up. Their lack of timeliness and consideration for ALL the pilot groups involved is staggering to say the least.

One of them is on a FORCED trip by the company. Stop being a jacka$$, if you can.

Nah, it just gets old...we want to be viewed as professionals but these boards are full of grammatical ebonics...we can figure out how to fly jets but not how to put a string of words together to form an articulate sentence...and it's not just the pilot boards...I also participate on other professional boards from medicine to law and it's the same thing everywhere...the dumbing down of America continues, that's all...

A few people write like this … with ellipses between each clause … I find this quite annoying … It suggests that the writer was too lazy to make proper sentences. And it makes reading more difficult, because you can't tell at a glance where each idea finishes.

And question for you guys (and girls)...I see alot of "a" where "an" should be and vice-versa...now, if one is talking about a 3-letter abbreviation (which all airline pilots love)...which would be correct?

1. A SLI (A seniority list integration)
2. An SLI (Sounds right against the letter "S" but not against the word "seniority")

I don't know the answer, I'm asking...

Because you bust me on many instances on this board. If you are to be the grammar police then you better use your punctuation correctly!

So my questiont to you is, who are you quoting or what phrase or group of words are you leaving out of your 1 very long sentence. I would imagine to call it a run-on sentance. While we are at it and you do want to use an ellipsis then the proper way to format it is by adding a space between each sides of it...Not by my example.

An ellipsis [ … ] proves to be a handy device when you're quoting material and you want to omit some words. The ellipsis consists of three evenly spaced dots (periods) with spaces between the ellipsis and surrounding letters or other marks. Let's take the sentence, "The ceremony honored twelve brilliant athletes from the Caribbean who were visiting the U.S." and leave out "from the Caribbean who were":

The ceremony honored twelve brilliant athletes … visiting the U.S.

Any perceived "busting" is unintentional! I only was pointing out that it's exasperating to see my colleagues using such poor spelling on a "professional" forum. Also, I pointed out that it's not only here but on other non-aviation related forums that are frequented by doctors, lawyers, engineers, and other professional people. I certainly haven't looked for your posts, "scrutanized" them and busted on you on purpose. And as far as the writing...like this...it's no more or less of anything than the misuse of "there", "their", "deluded", and "diluted" in the posts here. And, while it used to be that the "..." meant that something was being left out of a quote, since the advent of the internet and all of the texting, instant messaging, and blogging, it has become accepted as a style of writing in these formats. Again, my deal is still on the table - I'll write with perfect and standard format and clarity if everyone else will use the proper %*^(&)*IJK word when they're posting!

Even after issuing explicit instructions to the parties on submitting updated lists effective 6/1/2011, he is probably scratching his head wondering WTF to do with a colgan list dated 5/30, a Mesaba list dated 5/31 and a Pinnacle list dated 6/1.
