Folks,
If you are going to do a FedEx interview, good prep is important. However...don't get overly intimidated! Success rates walking in the door are in the 65-90% range depending on the group. They WANT to hire you when you walk in.
If I had money to burn for a sim, I'd find an operation that has an A300 or A310 somewhere....that is what you will get your eval in 9 out of 10 times.
As for the interview workup...well...I'll let others on the board speak if the Emerald Coast Interview prep was worth their time. (Percentages do go way up....) The biggest point I'm trying to make is if you get the call, do your homework, but don't freak out. Its not the most "fun" interview you'll ever have but it is certainly not a "hostile" interview. The biggest challenge is that when you go through, you'll get a lot of blank stares and non-committal responses during your SBI (Situation Based Interview), and many guys wonder who they are doing, and the sim and tests are likewise zero feedback events (other than the call saying yes...you passed the sim...)
BTW.....one of my primary interviewers was Warren Travis, an MD-11 Captain who is about to retire. I still chat with him whenever I catch him in the AOC. The PROCESS at FedEx can appear to be a bit cold, but the PEOPLE behind the process are all actually pretty nice folks.
Now...lets all hope the hiring train gets rolling again soon!
