FYI:

For those who are not aware of comparable equipment pay for the E190 since it's a new type, here is Air Canada's E190/E175 pay in U.S. Dollars: 1st year = $32K/year, 2nd year = $36.4K/year respectively for both Capt & FO. 3rd year Capt = $97.9/hour, FO = $51.5/hour. 4th year Capt = $100/hour, FO = $54.1/hour.

These numbers are still significantly higher than Jetblue's after factoring in JB's 1.5X pay above 70 hours flown. We need to get the pay up here at Big Blue!

You could--

1) Ask Dave really, really nicely when you see him next time, if he is isn't traveling to check out his investment in Vueling.

2) Upgrade to the A320 (most popular answer)

3) Unionize

You union types all crack me up.

Just what part of being in a union guarantees that the pay at your airline will go up? I think that the experience of the past several years supports my notion that forming a union doesn't guarantee squat.

An independent union? Maybe. JB already has that in quite an informal way.

JB is and has been very proactive. They had a bunch of Christmas morning diverts and the schedule for many was changed. Many lost out on Christmas pay.....the company just unilaterally decided to pay anyone who lost out on their double time holiday pay the guarantee of their holiday time. This is from a company that figures on losing money for last year.

I will vote for a union when JB management shows they need to deal with one to listen to their employees. Right now, they listen better than any management I have worked for.

Jetlag:

Look at the total compensation, and I'll bet it is very comparable. They pay a Captain 32K a year?

Jetlag: Thank you (sic) for being so vigilant in your observations regarding our pay issue in the 190 fleet. You must have just read about this and not have realized that this horse has beating so many times in this forum that there isn't enough leather left to make a small wallet. While I personally take exception to the STARTING pay, you have to start somewhere.

Keep up the good work (sic). Hopefully you're as vigilant at your own organization.

Or you could take your special finger your dream rag and #3 and have a big ole time.

I enjoyed all alpa had to give me, a jets 4 jobs program slotted bidding and whatever else U mainline wanted to urinate down our backs (PSA).

In the future I believe the right thing on the pay will be done.

As old Al Spain used to say "you must be smoking some of that funny stuff." Anyone working for that pay must be smoking something. It is an embarrassment to the industry. Not too hard to pay Christmas double time when pay is half of what it should be...

dude:

I don't get where you get off saying the pay is half what it should be. So JB should pay a second year pilot $140 an hour?

I suppose our Bus pilots should make $260 an hour too?

I suppose with the lousy pay, JB has had lots of problems finding people to work for them?

"I don't get where you get off saying the pay is half what it should be. So JB should pay a second year pilot $140 an hour?"

Absolutely. I think $140/hour for a captain of a 100 seat jet is too low. Quit selling yourself short. You think 70/hour is fair? You must be smoking some of that funny stuff.

Furloughed dude,

What are you flying and how much are they paying you?

Just look at it this way, if you unionized then you would not air out all of your dirty laundry in a public forum and we would not have to put up with the 190 welfare posts every other month.

Heck maybe just maybe if you guys are real good and ask very very nicely, they will let you have a seniority list that shows you relative position when you retire.

Uppercrust,

It's not a good idea to post your picture on Flightinfo............

Now a picture of your wife or girlfriend - that's okay!

I guess we should just raise our pay rates to "what they should be" to quiet all the complainers of pay rates. To heck with the company's financial well being. Let's raise the rates to make as much as possible before the coffers run dry. Then we can go down the tubes with everyone else.

Times have changed and are still changing. How many more bankruptcies and pension dumps do we have to see before complainers get a clue???

I remember my first ALPA Union Contract Pay Scale. I was on the payroll when ALPA came onboard. I took a pay cut. Now, I have a shiny 15 year pin, furlough status (my 3rd), and Steven Wolfe is spending my kids inheritance. Yeah, I think I'll just quit...those 190 pay rates are too hard on me emotionally.

Hey guys,
I probably won't be posting a picture of myself anytime soon, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't. If uppercrust has the b*lls to do it, let him be the next John Hancock.
As far as the 190 rates go they are too low, period.

He can't say.....

He thinks because someone works for JB and is satisfied with the payrate on the 190, that they are "selling themselves short".....

He doesn't understand airline economics. Airline economics aren't what they were in the late 90's.....granted, I wish fares would come up as well. But higher fares will only get the mainline carriers off the cellar floor. It certainly will not allow them to make lots of money and simultaneously fund pensions, retool their existing fleets, and pay the pilots what they were making in the late 90's. With fuel twice what it was back then and everything else costing more, there is no way to effectively do what you want.

The 190 pay is low. However, it won't stay that way forever just like the Airbus pay went up as well.....it is a gradual transition. Did the SWA guys make top dollar when they started? No! However, they, like everyone else, should look to the future. If they had, maybe some of the mainline ALPA carriers wouldn't be the shadows of their former selves.

A more disgrace

I agree 100% with Uppercrust, the E190 pay IS a disgrace, but judging from his avatar (if that is a real pic) I think that poor excuse for a so called airline pilot job he bought at Gulfstream Int'l is not only a disgrace but an abomination! The owner of Gulfstream Int'l Tom Cooper (Eastern scab) is bending you over and wiping his rear end with your uniform shirt collar...the same uniform shirt collar he made you wear while you were still in ground school. You're subsidizing his airline, the person in the right seat is paying to sit there and the guy in the left seat could make more working at Taco Bell meanwhile Tom Cooper is laughing all the way to the bank in his Beech Baron that the pilots paid for.

She told me she only sent that picture to me. Tell her to call me ASAP.

Patience is a virtue that not many pilots own up to. With all those folks aiming the "you're dragging the industry down" sydrome at us, you might want to ask how much a straight pay (no overtime 70+) captain at UAL is making flying the A-320; I believe UAL is the one dragging the industry down, so please, direct your quote to them instead! If we wait this out long enough, our pay will look pretty good after management at NWA and DAL get done with their "reorganization". Or better yet, how much do the guys and gals flying the 170s for Shuttle America get for their pay??? Or NEWCO??? in their 70-110 seat jets. Therein lies the fact as to why JBLU probably will keep our rates where they're at for now and compensate accordingly with profit sharing in the future... Something that most legacy carriers do not participate in.

One could also argue that United 320 pay was brought down to the lowest common denominator, that being JetBlue at the time. Hopefully things will turn around now that all the executives are getting their big bonuses and we will be able to bring the wages up to where they belong at all the carriers.

Sadly, I doubt that will ever happen.
