Guys, an EMB 170 came to visit CHQ today and did a test with 70 employees and took a 45 minute test flight.

Maybe the United deal IS in the works after all.
 
Just for the passengers' sake, it would be far better to fly on EMB-170s vs. the CRJ tubes.... Does not surprise me that CHQ and UAL would be looking at it given the importance of customer loyalty. Great opportunity for CHQ pilots (and UAL furloughees)!

I hope it works out!
 
I wouldn't get too excited, there is a reason why ACA is leaving United, just look at what is happenning at Air Whiskey!! No way are you going to fly those 170's unless you fly them cheap for cheap United! The race to the bottom continues!!
 
I really don't think so. If you do get a contract I wonder what your rates will be to be "competative", as low as possible if you want a United contract. Then lets see if your company can get finiancing for new aircraft or even make any kind of profit, again there is a reason why ACA left United!! If anything you might be alittle jealous, I don't see chic- wha getting narrow bodies!! I congradulate you guys on your contract way to go in times like these. Inregards to the race to the bottom I am not talking about your pilot pay, I am talking about the situation with United. They want cheap cheap cheap and I wouldn't be to excited over it. Becareful what you wish for you just might get it!!
 
Its all about finiancing, your company will see if it partners up with United. P.S. I read your contract and again I congradulate you!

Just a thought.

The 170's are coming, around 6 next year, 8 the year after, 25-50 for a grand total. J4J with UAL.

Like it or not the pay rates in your TA for 59+ are F*CKING PATHETIC, just as are Mesa's and Skywest's! You guys are smiling and nodding to the idea of growth even if the pay ain't right, but where are you going in five years? You will live by these numbers you vote in for a LONG time.

Seventy seaters are mainline fr*cking airplanes and when things get better there will be no mainline jobs to go around because you'll be getting paid 59 bucks an hour to be a captain on 170! Management is playing you guys like a harp by showing off a 170 during contract decision time. Hey guys, check out this cool jet you'll get to fly! Remember fellas growth always comes before compensation!
 
1. IBT (CHQ) vs. ALPA...Scope This ---> ..!..

2. 25 firm/25 options per the MOU (it is only such) + UAL J4J (which, now pay attention U pilots, is only pref hiring...5 per A/C and NO superseniority. Very gracious and social way to do it. I look forward to flying with you folk).

4. I'm getting a pay raise with bigger equipment. (Yeah it has pimp avionics too)

5. When #3 happened, "Mainline" "Real Airlines" or whatever PC phrase stokes your ego, the CAB didn't let you lose money. With the success of LCC, you can bet in the next contract here at CHQ, the pay will follow. If we get too out of line with our peers (since crew costs are the deciding factor in Departure Fee airlines), we will stagnate on growth.

Ok for you guys that think CHQ, Mesa and SkyWest are racing to the bottom in salary, I pose this one...........What would be an honest pay for a 70 seat driver and a 90 seat driver? For a Capt and a FO??? You say we are cheep labor, well then name the price??? $100 an hour, $200 or $50 What would you be happy with if your paycheck said.....amount every two weeks?

Quit dragging us through the mud. I can't wait for CoEx to get a TA so ya'll can bitch about how they didn't raise the bar enough, or didn't kiss Comair's rear for going on strike. If you are able to read, you will find we have SUBSTANTIAL improvements in Scheduling, benefits, and work rules. We created a "One Company, One list" without any concession. Well, let me take that back, the ONLY concession in the contract is now we can only carry 1.5 times our PDO accrual to the next year (presently 2).

Let's evaluate the sections:
1) Scope - One Company, One List --- improved
2) Definitions - Same
3) Compensation - everyone gets a raise --- improved
4) Expenses - improved
5) Moving Expenses - improved
6) Scheduling - improved
7) Vacancies - same
8) PDO's - same, but for fairness our only concession
9) Seniority - improved
10) Training - New, improved
11) Furlough Same
12) LOA Improved
13) Physical Standards - Improved
14) Insurance and Benefits - Drastically Improved
15) Supervisory - Improved
16) check Airmen - Improved
17) Bases - Imroved
18) Resolution of Disputes - Improved
19) Dues - Same
20) Uniforms - Improved
21) New Aircraft - Improved
22) General - Improved
23) Hours of Service - same
24) MIA - Improved

The final score 23-1. One slight loss. Overall, each section is better, some more so than others, than the present CBA, plus our EC neutered an alter ego. I guess if we could always get what we wanted, they'd be the Handout Comittee, and not the Negotiating Comittee.

On a side note HappyPilotGirl, our EC did want all you fine folks from SA to get pref. hiring. The company thought about it and rejected it. The Local is still trying to work a deal for ya'll. (from the road show). BTW, since you are rated on the 747-4 according to your list, you should have no problem finding a job outside of SA.

I must apologize to those of you that are insulted by our horrible and abusive working conditons. I also add my apologies that our 60+ seat pay rate, although it is 1.5% higher than AWAC, is a joke. Thankfully, you have no reason to associate with such a group of sellouts such as us. I also apologize for the growth we've had over the past 5 years. Perhaps we should vote our TA down to better your company.

I'm a 3rd year fo for chq.

I've got the MINOLTA dimage 7i ,5.2 mega pixls. camera. the bose X with the upgraded power cord and mike, Archos 40 Gig multimedia "mp3/hard drive/ avi player/recorder/ smart media card reader/compact flash module/camera. I have a licensed copy of ADOBE photoshop 7.0, and others. A "competition class" stereo in my car (1200 watts rms). enough computer stuff on my desk to warrent three power stips, I have a collection of orchids I grow, etc. I have a GF in college(read not much money) with a 7yr old Kid-I pay the bills in my 1900 sq foot condo- for all three of us. I'm getting fat from eating out to much(even with my $500 gym membership)...

I'm doing OK...I can wait a few years for the "big money-I'm doing OK...(can still tip well, and throw around money at the "club".

another good one...lol. (I guess that is better than putting them in storage, in the garage. Where are you going to put yours in a few months when Wexford is done with you guys. (I was one of the 15 SF3 guys fired illegally by CHQ 'cause the SF3's were losing money-then WEX. bought you guys to help run the leases out with our AC and routes ;)... but don't worry, we are STILL working on getting you all here at CHQ (if you want to) when the AXE starts swinging at shuttle ...

I have read and re-read the TA, there is NO MENTION of J4J with UAL.

It specifically states US Airways J4J. There is no side letter for UAL.

Care to clairfy???

It sucks that SA is going through all of this right now. I'd hate to be there. However, lets not forget that CHQ came over an bailed you folks out quite a few times with everything from helping management recover from "crainial-anal inversion" to wet leasing the last of our Saabs to help the SA #s look better. Also quite a few maintenance bailouts to prevent USAir from canning you guys/gals.

I'm not trying to gloat, I'd just like to remind you that you shouldn't bash those that have helped in the past and those that are trying to help in the future.

I haven't personally been trying to get SA over to CHQ but I know that there are those @ CHQ that are working toward that. I hope for your sake that your attitude doesn't shine trhough at an interview........

Just something to think about.....

I would'nt be comparing your rates to ours if I were you. You look silly since our rates are concessionary, ratified by the MEC, not the pilot group, prior to PSA going into bankruptcy. You guys are about to vote on yours and be happy with it!? For pennies above our concessionary rates? That seems odd, doesn't it?

As a current PSA pilot I have to agree with you. NOBODY from PSA should be making fun of the payscales for any company other than MESA. Concessionary or not they are still a disgrace, especially the FO rates.

We are all guilty of bringing the standard of this profession down. NWA pilots are currently fly the DC-9-10 for alot more then we will go fly a EMB-170. So were do you think the major airlines are going to send the growth.

It was also mentioned that in the future we will bring the rates up. Why are we giving back contract gains that all the pilots before us work so hard to get. Also there is a very good chance that the pilots that follow us will be willing to work for less then us. The cycle would then continue.

We are the only ones that can stop it. I am not saying that the CHQ TA is a bad deal. To protect your flying is hugh, without giving in every where else even bigger.

Just don't sound so happy to be flying a major airline type equipment for half price(NWA DC-9 CAPT.). I think everyone of us got in this business to fly for NWA, CAL, AMR, DAL. For every airframe that traditionally flies for major but is now flown by a regional carrier is 12 to 14 less major positions. I hope we all are maxing out are 401K. Becuase none of us are going to see a major at this rate.
 
I for one want to look at this from a different point of view. As a CHQ pilot, i wish that any plane that holds more that 50 pax is flown by a major airline. PERIOD!! Us getting 170's or 190's is great for CHQ but bad for me ever getting to the majors. I might as well be stuck at the regional level for my entire career. That being said, this is not the fault of CHQ. In my view, this is the problem of the lower cost major airlines such as WN, AirTran, Jet Blue and so on. The regionals are the "low cost airlines" for the majors. Let's take the city of Louisville for instance. UAL always flew a 737 in about 3 to 4 times a day almost always full. Well, here comes WN(Southwest) to directly compete with UAL to Chicago even though different airports. UAL starts losing money because they have to sink to WN's low fairs. Guess what? UAL pulls out and puts Aiw Wiskey in it's place to compete. Where was everyone then talking about THOSE mainline jobs being taken away??? This not only happened to SDF, but to dozens of former UAL cities, and is happening at every major airline out there.

UAL, AA, Delta and so on cannot compete with the new low fair airlines directly. The Only way they can do it is with regional feed. I think every pilot at CHQ would be happy flying 50 seaters. What you do have to remember though is that WE as a pilot group do not make the decisions on future aircaft acquisitions. If WEXford want to dump money in the 170, that is THEIR choice.

The carrot of the 170 is not there for me. I could care less. I personally think it is a mistake investing anything in UAL right now. The decision I have made on the TA is based on Republic going away, a raise , better benefits, and overall a better contract. The 170 is non influential unless they fly em out of STL.

About all those bashing the contract, What is your real motive?? Had a Comair guy tell me to vote no so we go on strike and lose our Delta flying. Is that what this is all about? Because unless you have:

1. Read the contract at least twice
2. been to the road show

You have no clue what you are talking about.

I hope you don't put all your eggs in a basket that has already been dropped. But then you have another basket don't you, ___ being carried by USAirways. Hmmmm.

You guys had better keep Delta happy. It looks like they have the only basket that isn't full of holes.

Nice TA by the way, you've made a lot of improvements on what you already had.

Your book rates for the larger equipment are less than good and I would not crow about them (they are considerably below where they should be -- compared to current operators), but everything else is better than it was.
