What is your opinion of which uniform vendor to use?
Abbotts or Flightstation/Crewoutfitters?

I am more concerned if the quality difference is worth the extra price of buying from Abbotts. I have pants from both and Abbotts pants lasted me my entire 5 year ASA career, where FS/CO only lasted about a year. What about the DB Jacket, Which is better quality?

Chime in on how well or poorly your uniform has held up. I live in Atlanta so M&H and Stopover store is not even being considered.

Looking forward to being apart of the Widget again! (I worked for mother Delta for 9 yrs not incl ASA).

I can't comment about the quality of the uniforms, but here's the question....

Have Patriots fans given up hope with Brady out for the year?

YKnot

p.s. Say HI to the missus and Misty for me

Not to hijack my own thread...but it is a major blow to our plans for 19-0 this year. We still have a solid team.

P.S. email me so I know who this is.

Fisrt of all I think that

M&H is expensive. I had ordered 3 pairs of pants

all the same size and all three fit different!

They are lousy in my opinion.

I would go with Abbotts. Their quality is worth the price. I have also been told that JCpenneys has some good pants that meet the uniform standards.

The vendor isn't the problem. It's the fact that the uniform was designed by the Village People.

Have some pride, stand up for yourselves. Tell them you want a respectable uniform.

Tanker,

That's a funny statement coming from an Air Force guy. Have you actually seen your own uniforms? You guys look like high-ranking postal workers.

At least they are free. Thanks for paying for them! As a matter of fact, thanks for pay check! And retirement. With that retirement, you won't have to buy me beers on overnights when I start at SWA!

I am sure, with out a doubt, that your stellar military expertise will get you a job here. In fact, you don't need any expertise at all. Having been in the AF automatically makes you supremely qualified to be on our seniority list. Welcome and please introduce yourself when you arrive.

Spotting you should be easy. Look for tight jeans, brown leather-braided belt, tucked-in t-shirt, and the cool calculator watch. Just wait man, the flight attendants are going to buy your program. All of those cool stories about flying to Anchorage, Baghdad, Kabul......they've never heard those before. Make sure you bring pictures of you in that cool uniform; that AF uniform always gets the ladies goin'.

Go with Abbots for everything but the hat. By far the highest quality uniform out there. Their customer service blows donkey balls, but you'll get a very well made uniform out of it.

I ordered the hat from Bancroft...

Did I hear correctly that we are getting new wings/emblems?

What is the real deal on the shoes. The info we got says black leather lace ups. Are they that anal about lace ups or can you wear loafers? At nwa, I believe our fom says no tassells but you see a lot of them. Personally I think a nice loafer, tasselled or not looks better than some of the lace ups I have seen worn by pilots of all airlines. Alot of them look like a rentacop with the deerstags and some of the less expensive brands. Thanks

No loafers...that`s why it`s called a "uniform"
From Websters..Uniform...adj.(1) not varying
(2)of the same form as all the others.

The shoes are suppose to be "plain toe lace type" shoes. I have smooth leather, laceless shoes that slip on and I have had a check airman and a check airman wannabe tell me that they are not lace up shoes. I told them that they are "lace type" they just don't have laces. I still have them and will wear them until the soles fall off. You do see a few guys with slip on shoes, but you don't see anyone with shoes that have designs in the leather and tassles. If they are plain smooth leather slip on shoes, you probably will be fine. I've heard that they are planning on having that changed so that slip on shoes will be allowed. Right now, if you don't want to tie your shoes, the only option is the Justin Aviator boot.

Heyas,

I'd just wear what you want. It's going to be such a cluster for the first couple of years, no one is going have time to be uniform cops.

Anyone so wrapped up in themselves to be a self appointed tool, especially before SOC will no doubt have the legitamacy of their birth called into question.

Except for some of the ATL M88 check airmen. I like how they always say, "I don't care, but someone might tell you those shoes are not in compliance with the uniform policy."

For those of those of you who are worried about the uniform police- just try to conform close to what the FOM says. I had an F/O show up for work about a year ago in cowboy boots and a guitar strapped to his back. He flew just about as good- he thought that a vertical speed descent at 1000 fpm would work when the descent page kept on climbing as to what was required. he was basically worthless-I thought he must have been a company plant to see if I would do anything.

Boy I wish you were right but you'll find out the hard way. It's sad but true.

I would recommend Abbotts. Uniforms are excellent quality and they do a great job of tailoring the pants, shirts, and jacket.

After the merger, I'd like to see some ATL check-airman wannabe type come over to Narita and play uniform cop. Good luck with that one!!!

If you have access to the Navy Exchange you'll find a range of prices starting at 220 for the jacket. Pants that match can often be found on sale for 40 dollars. The Navy has a more expensive premium brand made by Brooks Brothers, I believe.

Unless I miss my guess that is exactly what will happen. I have a feeling that they will want to make a point. Although it will not be a LCA it will be an Assistant Chief Pilot. After the first several guys get an unpaid vacation for not wearing the uniform properly I bet the problem goes away. Do you really think we like wearing our hats? I hope I am wrong. I would love to see our uniform policy change to match yours…but I am not hopefully. The funniest thing is the guys that enforce the policy rarely wear the damn thing.

Delta has the APU Sheriff program. Usually a retired Delta guys that walks around the ramp to make sure your APU is not running until 5 min prior to departure (policy is different in the summer). These guys wear vests and hats that say APU SHERIFF. It is hilarious.

I guarantee they will have Uniform Police program. Retired guys will jump at the chance to tell guys how to look the Delta part. Especially a free trip to NRT.

I don't know why guys get all bent out of shape about the uniform policy. If you were asked in your new-hire interview to wear the hat, laced shoes, clean shirt, no Docker pants etc, etc you would have said "YES SIR."

Be happy you have a uniform policy. You could work in corporate world and have to wear a different suit each day.

I don't mind the uniform, but the hat needs to go. It also sucks that the NWA pilots are only getting $400 to buy an $800 uniform.

Whatever the NWA guys get is a heck a lot more than we got when we were hired at DELTA, 0$. I guess all of us, DAL pilots, should put a claim to payroll, to make sure we are treated the same as our "counterparts". But again, that is not how it works, those poor guys are getting so screw, and they are taking such a hit, medical and all, and of course the payraise really is no all that.....
