C'mon... this is FI. The land of sprawling dead horses! ;)

Think of it as a slow news day.
Yea lets talk about how a college degree has nothing to do with flying an airplane

Yup.

Big difference. Dr.'s do an internship. They don't pay to work at the hospital.

Again, lawyers don't pay to join the law firm or to be a partner.

Welders.

Auto mechanics.

The list goes on and on.

Don't know about any of the above. I'm not talking about paying for your education. I paid for my ratings through the civilian rank, and was fortunate to get hired at a very young age after flying for a regional in the 80's. That being said, I also paid for my college. But I didn't pay to go to work at the regional I got hired at in 1987. Matter of fact, as little as I was paid, it was still a paycheck to me, not to them to go to indoc. Big difference WRT to pay for the job. The above companies I used as an example were companies you had to write a check to them to show up for job training. I didn't include SWA in my list. Someone else did.[/QUOTE]

What!? You came out of Military Aviation in 1987 and could only get a job at a Commuter? Are you kidding?

In 1987, every single major was hiring...a lot... Unless you had a DUI or an accident/incident on your record, how could you get out of the military and not go straight to a major. Most military guys I knew had 3 or 4 classdates before they ever separated..

Your stupid, irrational posts are now actually explainable...

No, I'm not kidding. You weren't even a speck in your daddy's sack back then, so never mind the fact that you're ASSuming I was a military pilot when clearly you are suffering from cranial rectal itus. Did you fail 3rd grade reading? No wonder you haven't graduated to 4th grade yet?

That's because, like I explained, I wasn't a military pilot you ASSWIPE! What the hell is your major malfunction numbnuts? Did a Delta guy really sodomize your old lady that bad? Jeez, I feel sorry for your parents.

Yours aren't. I just wish you would stop posing as a SWA pilot, let alone a pilot.

Hey southwest pilots. If anyone knows this guy, can you please PM me his name. I'd love to know who this guy is?
Thanks...

I totally agree. You (and many others) made a good choice.

What I find disingenuous are those who claim that its no different than getting your flight certificates or attending medical school. It's not.
It is exactly the same, you're being untrue to the facts.

Plumbers require education, experience, certification/competency, a license, they require tools of the trade.

A plumber pays for those things as they go, just like every pilot. SWA included. You think fixing a leaky pipe is easy then, go try it for a living.

Your example further deviates, as its already feasible to land a job flying without this additional investment.
How much you or a plumber spends or doesn't is irrelevant to the discussion.

Neither does it matter who pays.

I could join the Army and they would teach me to be a plumber while they pay me, probably get me a cert, same with being a Dr, let Uncle Sam foot the bill. I could have Rich Mom and Dad pay, or I could go into debt and take out Obama student loans. Or, I could get a scholarship i earned via good grades, another form of work.

Everybody pays for their training, even you.

Ummm....OK....I believe you....

There is no way you could have passed the Psych Eval. as a military pilot....that's kind of obvious.....

Why would you be asking other SWA guys if they know me if Im not really a pilot in your mind.....It's OK...just ...breathe....in....out...in....out..

There, there Cooter.......Better?

Now explain why in 1987, when Delta,Eastern,PSA, USAIR, Piedmont,Pan Am,Northwest,TWA,American,Continental,United,Southwest, were all hiring record numbers of pilots and even if you were a 500 hour, barely breathing,45 year old, community college graduate you could at least get an interview, if not hired, were YOU, the God King of Aviation, working at a Commuter!!!! (how's that for a run-on sentence?)

OK Cooter.....you are now free to smash your laptop over the top of your head....

Funny how NO SWA pilots have ever acknowledged knowing him, much less him working for SWA. There are several of us who think EXACTLY like you do. Of course, he posts that we all must be the same person posting under different names. He really is a sad, pathetic excuse for a human.

He's going off on me on another thread showing his stellar personality once again.

Oh, and keep up the good work, Scoot!!

If it makes you feel better Vicky W.

Ask any SWA guy if they know Vicky....I'm sure they know her or know of her. And her uniform in a glass display case at the top of the stairs at the Training Center? I just conjured that up?

You are getting desperate, but it is certainly entertaining for me..

I used to think pilots were incredibly smart and funny-as-hell. Congratulations for proving me wrong.....

Maybe you don't like Vicky because she kicked your ass somewhere along the line.

No, but almost gave her a heart attack once. She had a habit of smacking F/O's hands if they went to move the gear lever to the "off" position after takeoff. Drove all the F/O's crazy, especially the new guys... So one day we were taking off out of Phoenix and after I reached up to put the gear handle in the "off" position knowing full well what's coming, after she reached over and smacked my hand, I put the Landing Gear down.....she got this horrified look on her face and screamed "what did you do that for!!?".......I said, "Well Miss Vicky.....when I was at Eastern, when ever the Captain smacked your hand, that meant he wanted you to put the gear down.....I just thought maybe your Daddy was an Eastern Captain and taught you that.....". Her head was about to explode...she was speechless the rest of the trip...thank god...

The moral of that story is she never smacked another F/O's hand again

Are you sure YOUR not Vicky?........

In several ways you just defined yourself as a very weak pilot lacking in common sense, CRM skills and situational awareness. What an incredibly stupid and self centered way to make a point in the cockpit. There are people sitting behind you dude that didn't pay for you to play your little games,
At my airline you would have been fired for doing something that stupid.

BTW that will be rationalized away by Sascha, he simply won't get it. But there are all levels of pilots on this board and many just starting their careers.
For you guys just know that most pilots are not that stupid (deliberately causing confusion during a critical phase of flight and adversely affecting the performance of a an airplane filled with passengers) and most airlines would not tolerate that kind of behavior.

I know, right. And don't you love it how the SWA pilots crawl out of the woodwork with the namecalling every time you remind them that SWA is a classic PFT outfit.

Of course, by pointing out the facts, you've become a "hater" just like me.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again (and again and again and again).

I've been at SW for over 16 years, and have never, as in not once, paid SWA one dime for any training. Period. In fact, I've been paid (very well) for every bit of my training, including new hire.

Requiring a type rating that you don't have to pay for isn't PFT. It's no different than requiring an ATP, MEL etc. You can pay for the type, but it is not required, you just have to have it.

Even a moron can see that it is quite different from a"classic pft" outfit like Valuejet, Kiwi, Shuttle America, Gulfstream, Comair etc. where a barely qualified, low time pilot actually pays the company to get a ridiculously low paying job, so they can gain experience they don't have so they can go get a real job, like SW. Or worse, they were scabs and had no other options :cough: valujet :cough: but to write a check for a job.

FWIW, my type pays for itself roughly every 2 weeks. Heck, the premium trip I just did paid for it in 3 days. If that's PFT, I'll take it!

Having flown with the aforementioned "captain"., I can say with no hesitation that you've described her perfectly.
