A sad day indeed. My condolences to all of our Comair brothers and sisters, and to the families of pax.

I wish someone would pull the plug on Miles Obrian!

Thankfully he was able to point out that icing was likely not a factor.

God bless, everyone. Stay safe.

This is a bad day.

Sad, sad news.

Eye witnesses are stating heard a loud "boom" and bright flash before a/c went down inside airfield boundries.

Crash less than a mile from the end of the runway.

'Multiple fatalities' in Kentucky plane crash

Sunday, August 27, 2006; Posted: 8:29 a.m. EDT (12:29 GMT)

(CNN) -- There are "multiple fatalities" after a 50-seat Delta commuter flight, en route from Lexington, Kentucky, to Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport, crashed Sunday morning near Kentucky's Blue Grass Airport, airlines and airport officials told CNN.

Federal Aviation Administration officials said Delta Flight 5191 -- which was operated by Delta's commuter carrier, Comair -- crashed shortly after takeoff in a wooded area about a mile from the airport.

At least 50 people were aboard the flight and it is not known if there were any survivors, the officials said.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. ET, the officials said.

Delta Flight 5191 was scheduled to land at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport at 7:18 a.m.

The aircraft was a Bombardier Canadian Regional Jet (CRJ), FAA officials said.

God Bless and God Speed for all involved, my thoughts and prayers are with all of the brothers and sisters at Comair.
