Not a lot, but certainly enough for us to live comfortably, and put enough into retirement accounts that will keep us comfortable after we call it quits (right now with modest growth of about 5-6% they project to be about 7 million when we retire at 60).

Uppercrust said:The VP SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS CLASS! This is now way to treat an upper level leader of your company. That capt should be talked to and grilled by the CPO's. No questions asked. I would feel honored personally to have a member of my senior management on board my aircraft and would do anything to accomadate them. Senior level management should have been treated better in this case. Remember, were just the ones drivin the bus, they are the ones leading us!

PCL_128 said:Barking up the wrong tree on this one, Occam. The MEC has largely been replaced, including the SCAB MEC Chairman. Not to mention the fact that the MEC is under investigation at National for an FPL scam. Normally I'll defend the MEC members of any airline, but the CAL MEC was a joke until recently when most of them were replaced.

Flyerjosh said:I think the company blows for suspending this guy. But it shouldn't have put him into such a position that he needs that much support from his fellow pilots (regardless of how generous they are or feel).
Flyerjosh said:Sarcasm? Probably not. While I feel for the guy and the paycuts that he (and others) have taken, I don't have a whole lot of sympathy when you make 100-150K+ a year, and don't have at least a months worth of liquid salary saved up.
10000K would pay my mortgage for 7 MONTHS. Part of the reason that so many pilots out there at the majors have financial issues is that they live at the very max of their income, rather then living modestly.
Tie right into the pension arguements. While I think it totally sucks that pensions are getting cut- I have to wonder what these guys did with their money all of those years. My wife and I make about 90K a year combined. Not a lot, but certainly enough for us to live comfortably, and put enough into retirement accounts that will keep us comfortable after we call it quits (right now with modest growth of about 5-6% they project to be about 7 million when we retire at 60).

They would have been recalled at this last MEC meeting had they not resigned. The resignation was, I think the right thing to do to save a little bit of face.Boeingman said:The MEC was not "replaced", they resigned.

Since your so much into disclosure....how much of that 90K a year does your wife make?
Oh...and on the 7 Million....I call BS
Here is an online saving calculator: http://www.bankrate.com/brm/calc/savecalc.asp
Assuming your 25 (ha ha), and you save every year till your 60 at 6% you only need to invest $4892 a month (57K a year).
Time for math:
90 K a year....lets see you can shelter 30K (duel income) a year in a 401K....so that 60 K taxable...hmm....ok..then minus 25% (well assume a lot of deductions) for tax....45 K a year take home. Oh.... you still need to save an additional 27K to bring you yearly total to 57K to make your 7 million.....so...carry the one....Your takehome pay is about 18K a year after all your savings.
So you are living on $1500 a month. Thats increadibly reasonable. What is the big deal with all these stupid rich airline pilots that are pissing and moaning about their pensions going away. We can all just live on $1500 a month and be fine.

Not picking a fight here. I'm just pointing out the way the system works.

Echopapa said:Oh....I almost forgott...If you start at 21 years old...when you graduate college...then you only need to save $3737 a month. Which takes your take home pay way up to $2600.
Of course you have student loans and a job to find right out of college making 90K a year.....
But it still sounds very easy.
Plus 2600 is a lot to live on. Heck...you could even afford to buy a condo in a bad part of town with that.

100LL... Again! said:Hi PCL!!
Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying watching you get schooled by others who are tired of your junior-high attempts to legitimize yourself.
Were you picked on a lot as a child?
Although I suppose that it makes your weiner hard coming over here and talking tough.
When are you going to realize that all the union drum-pounding and a$$ kissing of mainline pilots will never make you into someone who paid their dues and earned their position? You are sooo desperate for respect. You crave it with every fiber of your being. And now you're an expert on the CAL MEC?
Save your trouser knees for a while.
Poser.

PCL_128 said:100LL and Boeingman, I see that you have posted several messages on this thread. I can't see your posts, but I'm sure they are immature attempts at attacking me. That's a shame, because this is all I see when you post:
This message is hidden because 100LL... Again! is on your ignore list.
This message is hidden because Boeingman is on your ignore list.
The two of you have the honor of being the only members on my ignore list! Sorry to disappoint you. Have a nice day.

You don't even work at Continental Airlines. Why are you on here trying to lecture senior pilots like Boeingman who were probably flying jets while you were breast feeding from your mom. So you logged on to the ALPA website and read a CAL newsletter... big deal.
