I got a three day layover coming up this weekend in Charlotte.
I've been there a few times, but only in passing. Never for this long.

So.....

What's to do, where to eat, and who to visit?

There's a bunch of great bars downtown. Buckhead is my choice, but there are plenty other "hot spots" to choose from. It should keep you occupied for the time you're down there. Have fun, it's a great city.

Go visit some of the Nascar team garages. Pretty neat stuff and a great way to kill a day. We hit 4 or 5. There is a big mall near a pretty big movie theatre that has a cool go-kart place. Several tracks, indoor and outdoor. $25 for all you can ride.

If you're staying downtown, just stroll around. It's beautiful and pretty clean.

We just went to the hotel bar, and I was very impressed with the scenery. I wish I could remember the name of the place I had lunch, because it was just a few blocks away and they served fantastic southern food with a stairstep patio you could walk out and eat on.

At any rate, congratulations and have fun.

Right next to the hotel (don't remember which one, the same eagle stays at) there's a pita place, really good food!

There are some things to do downtown as mentioned before. If you're into theme parks (like I am) Carrowinds just south of CLT airport is a good way to pass a day.

So downtown seems like the place to be for all the beer and entertainment!

Flying Illini - Where are the Nascar garages, and how do you go about getting in, does it cost anything?

Labbats - Just curious, why are you congratulating me?? I'm confused!

Flechas - You and Biatch got something special going on the side there or something? :D

I may be thinking about Concord, NC, but you've got the time so you could drive to concord. At any rate, the garages cost nothing to get into, just show up. They are all fun to just watch...and of course, they all have gift shops.

crap.. if it was some other weekend, I'd have you over to buck some rivets on my RV ;) days go by quickly with that kind of entertainment...

I also got a guided tour of some gold mine near Concord several years ago when I visited. I don't remember what it was called, but it was very interesting.
