I lived in what they call Uptown for 3 years. Don't ask me why it's not called downtown, but not much makes sense in Charlotte as far as planning as you will quickly learn if you try to drive around that city.

The nightlife in what we will call downtown is excellent. The ladies are plenty and very attractive. They are also quite friendly. Don't worry if you're from the north, I moved there from Chicago and fit in right away. Some places you might want to check out are Dixie's Tavern if you like Cajun eats, The Fox and The Hound for a good chill out atmosphere, Buckhead's (as mentioned before), Liquid Lounge for more club atmosphere and good looking ladies, Time Lounge is clubby with some hotties but is dressy and can be snooty. Stay away from Bar Charlotte and Have a Nice Day Cafe. Pretty cheesy. There are lots of other places that have opened up recently after I moved away that I've never visited that I'm sure are quite good.

If you head up to Concord you might want to check out Concord Mills. There is a Jillians's there that combines beer, video games, and cosmic bowling. There are also all kinds of other shops and places to eat. It's about a 15-20 minute drive up I-85. The gold mine that was mentioned was Reid's Gold Mine. Not a place I would go solo, but it was neat to see with a date.

Make sure you get a Creative Loafing as soon as you get in town. It will list all of the events going on that weekend and it lists lots of good restaurants, bars, clubs, and live music in town.

Well been sitting here in NC for a couple days now and you guys have had some great suggestions.

Couldn't find the Nascar garages, and no one could tell us where they were at. Figured they wouldn't be very much to see anyways since they're off at the races today.

Went to Carolwinds. It was pretty fun, lots of rides, and a good way to kill some time. Very GHETTO though, felt as though I should've been packing to protect myself at times!

Went out to Lake Wylie to a boat show. Captain was enjoying the boats, and I was enjoying the fine Carolina female scenery! Spent a few hours out on the lake with some friendly people.

My one gripe, you Charolette people don't know ANYthing! Everytime we asked someone for where something is, they all give you this long blank look! We asked the FBO manager where our hotel was, he didn't know - and he booked it for us. We asked the hotel manager where Lake Wylie was (28 miles long, not easy to miss) and she had no idea, asked a Convenience Store Manager where Carolwinds was and he didnt know (1.5 away come to find out!) Gets frustrating after while!!

Thanks for all your suggestions!

Hmmm? Very strange. Maybe you came by on a day everyone decided to ...

... have a brain fart.

... smoke a doobie.

... get kidnapped by aliens.

... put something in the water.

Are you sure you weren't in Gastonia? Look up STOOPID HICK in the encyclopedia and it's a map of Gastonia.

:D

Yea, or perhaps all four of those at the same time!

That joke about Gastonia and the "tooth" brush was classic!!! Got a great laugh out of that!

Typical Signature. Did they change the FBO service at CLT yet? I know they were supposed to switch it to Wilson Air Service or something since Signature was generating so many complaints. At least that was the rumor.

Yeap, Signature is now dead and gone in CLT. Wilson Air took over and is the only FBO on the field.

They're also now operating out of one of those extended-three-mobile-home wide "offices" as well. While the big old Signature building is sitting empty and boarded up. I asked the lineman what the deal was, and he said they were doing some extensive remodeling on it, and they should have the main building open in about a year!! Sounds to me like the're wasting a lot of good space, not using the Signature building, and remodeling it piece by piece. Last time I was in there I don't recall it being such an outdated and bad place. Sure beats their makeshift shack they're currently using!

Da women were as advertised - after you know where to look!
