I'm congratulating you on your 3 day weekend in CLT. I'd be tempted to take off my wedding ring (and my pants). That town has some ladies.

Ahh well thats good to know! Didn't know it had that kind of populous!

Actually if you get your priorities crooked enough, every town can be that way if you want it to be! :D

If your from the "north" dont tell them while you are there. Southern hospitality doesnt exist for those from the north.

Get out of the city and go to the mountains. It's only a 2-3 hour drive to some really spectacular places. If it is 90-95 degrees in Charlotte it will be in the 60's on Mount Mitchell- the highest mountain east of the Mississippi river in North America. The access to Michell is northeast of asheville off the Blue ridge parkway. If you don't want to drive so far, go to Doughton Park which is on the Blue Ridge parkway between Laurel Springs(Hwy 18 north of N.Wilkesboro) and Sparta(Hwy 21). A quick route from Charlotte is N on I-77 to US 21 near Elkin, up to the parkway, drive the parkway southeast to hwy 18 and come back down thru N. Wilkesboro. 2 hrs to the parkway from Charlotte.(approx)
It will be alot warmer in Doughton Park than on Mount Mitchell.
Don't want to go as far-- check out Lake Norman- north of Charlotte.
Alot of hiking trails in Doughton Park and at Mitchell.
Linville Falls great also.
Take water and food.

Bandit60- depends on the attitude of the person from the north.
It you tell us how you do things up north that ticks us off-- because we don't care.
If it's so nice up north why is two thirds of the Raleigh area from the north?
we don't care how you do things up north, we don't want your values that raise our taxes and our real estate prices

Cary,NC Containment Area for Relocated Yankees

Difference between a Yankee and a d.a.m.n yankee?
Yankee equals northerner, d.a.m.n. yankee is one that comes to the south to stay.

with that said my wife was born upstate New York-so this is all good fun.
but.. don't give a southerner a better than thou attitude and he will usually be really friendly.

As previously discussed to hell and back ... you get what you put out. Period. You act like you got some common sense and basic respect for folks ... and you'll get to know some of the warmest, most open, friendly and tolerant people on the earth.

Act like you're more important than everyone else and ... well ... you'll get atitude for days.

:)

Because it's too effing cold up here.

Works for me. :D

(And it helped that many of the jobs moved from the northeast to the south during the 70s, 80s and 90s due to more favorable labor/tax laws. Many down here forget about that when complaining about the move further south and far east of jobs. :( )

(NC Native with a Yankee accent. :D)

I lived in NC for two years. ( I have lived all over the country) And living in NC was the worst place I ever lived. Your attitude that you have shown with you damm yankee comment is exactly what I am talking about.

In the midwest people are just people. No one there cares if you were from the north, south, east or west, they just treat you as a person. In NC I actually had a person call me wife a yankee bitch to her face (the funny thing is that her family is born and raised in NC). And trust me, when I say she was not being one.

Many of my co-workers like myself, have had the same experience and all of us requested transfers. So I am not alone in my feelings.

PS. Please believe me when I say that not all of the people in NC have this attitude.

There are ignorant, low-class, ill-mannered azzwipes in every state. I trust you relieved him of a few teeth? I would have, even if I had to wait for him somewhere.

We're pretty sure the toothbrush was invented in Gastonia.

If it had been invented in any other town in NC they'd have called it the "teethbrush". :D

I guess you missed the part about this all being just jokes. No offense intended by the yankee joke.. most of my friends and family are yankess, and some natives here thing I am also because my accent is neutral ..I think because of my wife.

the point I was making is that alot of new transplants get grief from the natives because of their sarcastic condescending comments.

I will agree with you about midwestern people being very straight-forward esay to be around.

elaborate about your experiences in NC please.
