For once....vote your conscience instead of your pocketbook.

I will do both. Even a lot of dem's were saying "thank goodness Bush was in office" when 9/11 happened. That's because we needed a man with great leadership. Soooo, I will vote my conscience and voter for a leader. I will also vote my pocketbook and vote for lower taxes at the same time...

Just wondering how many pilots vote Republican but are also big supporters of their union and what it's done for them? From my experience there are a whole lot. Seems like a conflict of interest. Yes, I realize there is more to politics than just a career, but at least be consistent. So how can a pilot say I deserve and demand better pay, benefits, etc and as also complain that their UNION supports the Democrats? I seem to remember during the 2000 elections ALPA tried to have an interview with all the candidates about their feelings toward the airlines. Nearly all responded, both Dems and Repubs, except Bush. It would be nice to know what our future President thought about something so important in our lives. I am not a big advocate of the Democrats. I just find it funny that pilots I fly with want it both ways, but it just doesnt' work that way. Pilots are simply blue-collar labor. This career is all a game....you just have to decide what team you want to be on.

ALPA should not have endorsed anyone and just stayed out of this whole presidential election. There's too much going on today for them to make such a blanket endorsement of Kerry on behalf of its members

Ditto !!

In Dec., 2000, Sen. John Kerry said of the proposed merger of USAir and United Airlines...

"A USAir bankruptcy, which would result in the loss of 45,000 jobs and service to many small and medium communities is an acceptable alternative to the proposed merger between USAir and United Airlines."

Somebody convince me that this is pro labor, which is apparently one of the primary sounding boards of Democrats. Just as someone has already stated, Sen. Kerry will back off from his statement and re-twist his words into something different.

Now that ALPA has endorsed him, I would like to hear what he has to say now about his stand on any future consolidation within the industry. Can anyone say Waffle.

ALPA endorsing Sen. Kerry is like pouring salt on an open wound, and that is why I will never contribute to ALPA Pac.

Some of you are acting like we are these hardliner blue collar union folk, get this if you make more than 45,000 a year you are rich in the eyes of Kerry. I have enjoyed the tax cuts.

Why stop at Kerry ? Why not add on Hillary Clinton, Al Gore , and Jane Fonda.....................

They ALLREADY HAVE at one point or another. This is the major problem I have with the ALPA PAC. They say they are not biased, but that's a load of bullXXXt.

If they would consider seperate PAC accounts for say Dems, Republicans and Independents they would get a hell of a lot more money and pilots would get more politicians to listen. The amount of money in a Republican ALPA PAC fund would get a lot of R's to listen.

The narrow minded, socialist union mentality just drives me nuts. What good is higher pay for pilots if you compromise everything else you believe in to get it?

I watched the news last night and Al Bore was on ranting and raving like a Evangelist at a tent meeting in the summer,.
Man did we dodge a big one.

That's right. I totally agree. That's why I will vote for Bush. After 12 years of voting Democrat, and watching our military and intelligence org. get gutted, which was a big reason for 9/11, I will vote for the defense of my country and the safety of its citizens before I vote selfishly again just to protect my job. Freedom and the security of our country should be everyone's first priority before where I get my paycheck from.

Be open minded enough to support the candidate that Madonna or the Ditzy Chicks tell us to vote for.

You all seem surprised by ALPA's support of Kerry. Next you'll be surprised by the NRA supporting Bush. Give me a break. Unions like Democrats. Rich people like Republicans. If you think you're rich being a pilot, think again. Look at all the issues not just the one or two being discussed on this thread. Then vote your conscious, hopefully backed up with a lot of research and knowledge.

The Demoncrats will tell you that anyone who makes over 100K a year IS rich. Well I come close and I DON'T feel rich at all. And I‘ve worked hard and invested MY money to get this job. So don’t tell me I need to pay my share. Because I do, and others along with it. I also would rather have a real president who does what is right vs. tell me what he thinks I need to hear. But on a bright note I would rather have AL Gore than a man who changers position like a roulette wheel. Another reason to not be an ALPA member, as if I needed a reminder.

OK, rant over.

Kerry's agenda for getting rid of our *500 Billion!!* deficit that Bush created is to raise taxes on those individuals who make more than $200,000 per year. Rightly so...it is that group that Bush gave the biggest tax cuts to. I doubt most people on this board fall into that category...so you have nothing to worry about. Corporations are going to start being held accountable for their fair share also, instead of being allowed to set up HQ in Bermuda and the like to avoid paying taxes to our government. Kerry has the backbone to make the tough decisions to get this country financially back on track and start to repair the loss of dignity we've suffered throughout the world at the hands of ol' Dubya and his cronies of Enron-like executives.

Some of you on here sound like a bunch of whiny kids with your ME ME ME attitude and I GOT MINE SO SCREW THE REST OF YOU mentality.

Think deep on how we are going to fix the following problems. And don't spout off some over-used and tired Rush Limbaugh line either:

1. Pay down the $500 billion deficit. Cheney himself said the administration doesn't care about deficits.

2. End our reliance on fossil fuels. Drilling in ANWAR gives 6 months supply at best and is definately not the answer.

3. Restore our image throughout the world.

4. Bring up the QOL in this country instead of outsourcing our high paying jobs to India, etc.

5. Put a lid on immigration which is overstressing our infrastructure and further contributing to the downward spiral of wages in this country.

6. Have affordable and fair health care for all legal citizens. It is the governments duty to take care of its own people.

Bush has no credible plan to address any of these issues. Just the usual lies and doubletalk designed to confuse.
