There has been no word from the NPA on this yet. I just don't want to get my hopes up on this. How official is this news or is it one of those, " I heard from a checkairman...." kind of things?

This is what the training department told the returning furlough group that started yesterday. The letters went out yesterday to offer recall to everybody. If you are on the list you should get something today or tomorrow. I don't think the company is talking to the union, so they are probably the last to know.

Thanks SS.

A 6 month furlough doesn't save anything; it actually costs money. . . . another expensive mistake by JT.

You can add that to the absolutely assinine decisions made regarding the Flight Attendant "furlough" that never took place (because so many walked off the job they actually had to hire, not fire) causing cancellation after cancellation, and, of course, the infamous Christmas fiasco of 2007.

When is the CEO going to wake up and realize that his buddy Tabor has been a very expensive failure, and needs to be replaced by someone of proven abilities?

Until Bob F. really cleans house down in MCO, I think our long-term success is still in question.

Will you settle with UALs Tilton? Please?

Remainder of furloughed pilots recalled
AirTran recalls 49 furloughed pilots

Busier summer schedule will require more pilots, carrier says

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Wednesday, February 04, 2009
AirTran Airways is calling back to work 49 furloughed pilots, saying it will need them for its summer flight schedule.
AirTran last August announced it was furloughing 169 of its 1,450 pilots as it shrank its flight schedule in the last four months of the year. It has since made three rounds of recalls to bring 120 pilots back to work, and this week plans to send out letters to recall the remainder.

We believe we’ll need them for the summer schedule,” said AirTran spokesman Tad Hutcheson. He said the airline also needs pilots at work after some pilots retired. The last round of recalled pilots will come back to work in March. AirTran, which is based in Orlando, has its main hub in Atlanta and all of its pilots are based in Atlanta.
