I've heard the same thing about the 7th class (started Monday), but I originally heard the 28th class was closer to 30, must have leaned it out a bit.

Actually I heard that the class size on the 28th was raised from the orginal number. The guys at the training center said they added 6 more (B717) slots to bring it to 22 or 23 I think... It will be mostly a 717 class (70%).

Any reason for the increase on 717 vs. 737. A buddy called saying the bid packet for the 28th stated it was all 737.

Looking forward to being the most junior again.

They have been staffing primarily the 73 lately with the new hires. Most of the upgrades are 71 FOs and have not been replaced at the rate they are leaving.

I heard we are getting some used 717's that are in the desert right now. Unfortunately, I can't remember from which airline..

Some Aussie company and I am very doubtful it will happen. Dead program that we need to be getting away from.

Sorry it got a little out of hand last night. God it was funny though. Truth hurts sometimes to some folks on this board. They should be glad mods delete their posts in order to protect them.

I deleted many posts to keep the thread on track...not to protect them. If you have a problem with that then you can PM me about it. This thread had good momentum and was on track until it fell apart after a few innapropriate posts. I made the gay regarding the link that you posted. Nothing more, nothing less. I have no interest in the airtran discussion other than keeping the conversation going without degenerating into what it had become...that is the reason for the deletion of some of the posts.

Comendable and respectable you are! Let's get the thread back on track. Still though, I was laughing my ass off last night!

Someone in recurrent was told by mgmt that it was a done deal..

I just heard today that it is a done deal - papers have been seen. 10 aircraft is what I am told. That's another 100-110 pilots. I had previously heard from SG that 80 more pilots would be hired this year. I'm not sure if that 80 number is included in the 100-110 (I doubt it since we are still getting the 73's and need more pilots for those aircraft as well). Good news!!

Why away from? It's still a good airplane isn't it?

These pilots should be able to quit and go to a better place if able. Dont worry about Airtran or your sponsor. Airtran, or any other airline, doesnt care about the employees. They only care that a pilot is there to move the plane. If the pilot shows up drunk, they will fire the pilot. If they cared about the pilot, they would get them treatment. Remember, nobody is looking out for you, except you.

If a company requires an applicant to be "sponsored", I dont want to work there. I am looking out for what is best for me and my family, and if that means quiting and moving on, so be it.
Then stop boozing!!!!!

If you need a sponser than you must not be worth the trouble to fill out an application. Most of the people I know who work for Airtran are failures who could not make it elsewhere. Truth hurts.

Are you smoking crack?

99% of ALL new-hires here MUST have a recommendation to get the interview. Along with going to an AIR, Inc conference, doing an initial meet and greet, AND being competitive with your flight time.

The TRUTH is that needing a sponsor is a requirement BY THE AIRLINE MANAGEMENT, both here and at FedEx.

So you're saying FedEx pilots are "failures who could not make it elsewhere", also?

Put down the pipe, detox, and go fly a trip! :)

******************** you Lizzard Mother ********************er have the balls to say that to one of us in person. I'll personally beat your ********************in ass if you so much as imply that to me in person. You limp dick coward mother ********************er

Longhorn....Been overseas for 6 day trip, and come back to this.....(tear in my eye) I love you man, but you're not getting any of my bud light!

Real Numbers

there was 18 in the August 7th class. 10 to the 73 and 8 to the 717. Aug 28 will have 23 with 14 to the 717 and 9 to the 737. I guess block hours increased on the 717 so they added more new hires to the 717.

Also the plan is to hire 102 for the rest of the year NOT including the Aug 28th class.

( didnt NWA rehire the captain that got fired for flying drunk.....sure they fired him, but they gave him a second chance.....but then again there CEO was caught with pot)

The CEO who agreed to re-hire that Captain and the CEO who got caught with pot were not the same CEO.

Do you know how many times I've heard something that was a "done deal" at previous carriers? Here's a grain of salt.

Of all the bs on these web boards, please let this one be true...

One friggin biased indivdual.

Sledneck;

The word is that there will be about 100 +/- hires from now to the end of this year and about 300-350 for each of the next two years. We have approx. 50 more airplanes coming over the next 30 months so there will be alot of expansion. It's a really good riding surf board dude!

I heard that at the current fleet size they'd like to get away from it eventually. But with a 717 fleet of 100+ aircraft they're saying it's a keeper.
