RS4 airbags... just when I thought I'd seen it all - LOL. (owner of a 2002 S4).

Have no idea what the amount of dues collected is per year, and yes, it's true, the Admin Assistant (secretary) to the ALPA president makes more than most of our F/O's.

That's not a sign that ALPA admin is overpaid, it's a sign of how dramatically WE are UNDERPAID.

My buddy who has no degree has a job with Verizon as an assistant manager and makes over $60k. My ex who has no degree has a job in a medical office making $60k.

The aviation profession is, as a whole, a joke in terms of compensation packages. Time, indeed, to take it the hell back!

2007' RS4, fun wheels.

I agree on the income assessment but now is not the time to negotiate a contract. This perilous economy gives management way too much influence to kill a wage increase. The economy is always cyclical and the time to pounce is near the top of the curve.

I would advise any pilot group to wait 24 to 36 months to ride this storm out.

How's PCL128 taking it? Big smile?

stlflyguy

I won't be smiling until my shiny new ALPA card comes in the mail with "ACTIVE" status printed on it again. Until then, I'll just be frowning and shaking my head at the gross incompetence that the NPA has displayed over and over again.

It's actually refreshing to see a pilot group make a bold move to help their cause. I know nothing about AirTran's current union, but it's unfortunate that the the best union to join is the highest "F."

Who are the D or better?

What experience do you have negotiating contracts or what places you in a postion to advise organized pilot groups?

I helped negotiate 2 seperate wage increase programs for the pilots at SkyWest.

But because it was not under a format that you can understand, you can do nothing but belittle it.

Trying to negotiate a contract now, with this economy, would be foolish. Most airlines have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

It's about time we got serious about getting ALPA on property. It's nothing personal against the guys currently serving in the NPA, they do their best for us, but the NPA as a union is becoming embarrassingly amateur. The visit from the police was the final straw for me.

As for my little socialist friend PCL, we may disagree on some politics, but I can't think of anyone else I would rather have working for me right now, and I will be voting for him.

Yeah, well, I'm too poor for one of those. I like my '02, it's easier to mod.

I disagree 100%. Now is the PERFECT time to start negotiating in earnest, especially here.

Figure 2 months to get the ALPA vote done, another 2-3 months of integration and elections, 2-3 months of bringing legal up to speed, setting strategy, and arranging initial meetings with the company, 6 months of gearing up the SPC, uniting the pilot group, and getting everyone ready for the heavier work.

Another 6 months of informational picketing, another 6 months fighting for release, and you're right at the point for self help 18-24 months away. Enough time to for the economy to be well into the recovery cycle, and for the pilot group to have saved up individual strike funds to add to the ALPA strike fund we'd have.

Waiting another 2-3 years would place us almost 10 years past our amendable date. That's not acceptable.

Yes, we looking at a definition of terms, now is the time to get the ball rolling but sitting down in actual negotiations is another.

You want your company very healthy, like when UAL got their contract in 2000'.

Well, barring any more unforeseen events, AAI is poised to make their highest yearly profit of all time next year, and probably the year after that.

Guess the timing will be good then...

btw, the chick in your avatar, is that someone you know, or was that at an Audi event?

Projected earnings:

2009: $67 million
2010: $96 million
2011: $157 million
2012: $150 million

I think we'll be just fine, and I think that's enough money to pay our FOs industry-standard wages. We aren't asking for the moon, we just want something fair. ALPA will help us achieve that. The NPA is nothing more than a roadblock at this point.

Best of luck with the negotiations!

I wish I knew the Audi chick, got the pic from another forum, I've got the RS4 up to around 450HP, they can be modded!
