If you lost your airspeed indicators at altitude, would you know what thrust and pitch attitude to maintain?
1. Check the pitch attitude and thrust.
2. If pitch attitude or thrust is not normal for phase of flight:
Autopilot disengage switch......push
Autothrottle disconnect switch....push
Flight directors switches (both)...off
Establish normal pitch attitude and thrust setting for phase of flight.
Sounds like you missed your chance to be a hero.
Weren't they over the Atlantic, at night, in weather?

In level flight? Sure.
In moderate or severe turbulence at Max Cruise Alt? Hmmmm..... that's a different animal.
I'm sure they tried like hell, though.
2 NWA pilots did act like heroes at about the same time with the same type of problem flying from HKG to NRT in an A330.
