Severe thunderstorms were reported in the area, as well as a heavy downpour at the time the jet left the runway.

Air France Jet crashes

Any news or links to the Air France A-340 crash that happened a short time ago in CYYZ during the landing?. Anyone listening to Miles O'brien on CNN?. What a piece of work....

The eerie thing about this, is that today is the anniversary of the 1985 Delta L-1011 crash in DFW. Close to the same scenario with the thunderstorms and windshear. Kind of ironic.
