Friend at AA said they are seeing one pilot suicide per month, which is something like ten times national average. Are other airlines seeing this?
Very sad.

Are things really that bad over there? Hopefully just a bad rumor. I could understand wanting out of the company, but wanting out of life because of the company?

One a month, no.

However, there have been an unusually higher than normal amount these last couple of years.

It is a tragic situation that many of our dedicated pilots are working to prevent.

And for those of you who angrily lashed out at the insensitive poster - please don't. Ignore him. Lashing out only feeds his ego.

if it wasnt for this seniority system, pilots would be free to move/leave AA for other carriers. Maybe its time to revisit the system.

How so? How would a pilot at one airline expect in any sense of reality to be hired as a pilot off the street at another airline and using this so called national seniority system jump right in as a senior captain?

Would you risk your airline hiring captains off the street?

Or is this merely an attempt to ensure that if your crappy airline fails, you can re-seat yourself at the top of the heap at the next airline so you can start the cycle all over for their downfall?
