 Sorry to hear it. Didn't I just read an article (maybe in today's USA Today) that AA was seeing a rebound in high dollar travelers?

Well Eagle is hiring and getting 22 more CRJ-700s.... is this related?

Bad news either way.....there are plenty of CFI's frothing at the mouth to get hired at AE and fly that "big" plane..... not knowing or caring where the job came from.

Well hasn't this been going on for the last 10-12 years? Sure it will get worse with the new C-Series and More E-170/175's.
Really, don't act too surprised! Its how the industry has changed.

Problem if you can call it that is AMR has not saturated their lift with RJ's so there is still some desire from management to do so. OTOH DAL has RJ's everywhere and because of this need to reduce em.

The number of jets Eagle can fly is capped. These 22 are the last. In fact, there is a rumor that they are looking at ATR's to replace some of the ERJ's but those would have to be a one-for-one swap.

This furlough is directly related to Age 65. There are over 300 age 60+ pilots at AA right now. They are furloughing 175. Simple math.

Many of those working over age 60 could walk away with over $2 million in a lump sum.
