You are at minimum fuel, the nearest alternate is over 100 NM(which you certainly do NOT have enough fuel aboard to make it to)
You just went missed at a non-towered field because could not see anything at DH(or 100 abv TDZE),
wHAT DO YOU DO? Looking for some input in relation to what the 121 world would recommend?

...During an interview I stated I would shut down 1 engine to conserve, fuel declare an emergency, notify operations, FA's, ATC, And request emergency personel be prepared on the field?
Looking for some feedback. Thanks

divert before it becomes an issue....I'm guessing you didn't get that job....

Unfortunately shutting down an engine (on at least a 2 engine aircraft) will not result in less fuel being used. Drifting down from altitude yes, but bumping along at 5,000' not so sure. Then you have a whole new host of problems to deal with on top of your fuel EMERGENCY......At this point it's worse than just min fuel, you have a FUEL EMERGENCY.

Yeppers.

Fuel emergency
. You should have 45 minutes on board, right? So go somewhere, ANYWHERE, direct with priority handling to ANY airport that has an approach or VFR weather.

New guys get way too va-clemped about declaring emergencies. As long as you're doing what you're supposed to, it's NBD.

Hey due... "request equipment" WTF? over, you said you couldn't see anything, where are you going to have the equipment standing bye??

The answer to your question, I would have already been on the ground at some other airport. .... was going to explain the following to you, but never mind, I've already wasted enough time here.... ;)

Min fuel isn't an emergency but shutting that engine down is. You must have had enough fuel to get to your alternate. If you don't than declare the emergency and land below mins if you have to. I rather explain why I'm on the airfield with 1/4 vis than why I'm on a corn field. Just my opinion.

Dear Due,

you are a ********************ing idiot, thank GOD this is an interview question, which u obviously failed. I can only hope that my superiors have the foresight, wisdom, and prior experience to keep someone of your caliber from actually having some type of interaction in the aviation community. (My mother sometimes travels via air transportation, to visit me.)

WOW...

Is today April First? Please tell me yes!

I would pray that I wasn't a passenger in the back and that you were the CA. Please go somewhere that has a ten year upgrade.

You dont want to make it worse by flying with one engine.

Min fuel after doing a missed means that you expected to be at an airport with good weather and the weather got bad... In that case before you began the approach you should have landed somewhere else and got more fuel . BUT since your at min fuel with no alternate within 100 NM then your in the middle of nowhere and the best thing to do is declare an emergency cause by that point you would be emergency fuel tell ATC fuel emergency and continue past the DH. The get your pen out cause ur going to write ALOT and do a carpet dance explaning why you got to emergency fuel in the first place

In your answer you didnt say where you would go?

I just can't believe you had the balls to tell people on flightinfo that was actually your response to an interview question. Good god man...have a little dignity

Remember you are only a first officer and anytime you're in a bad situation or you just don't feel good about what is about to happen, just let go of the yoke and say to the captain: "your A/C!"

Define "minimum fuel"...because this is where you are confused or where they tried to trick you.
If what they meant was you didnt have enough fuel to go anywhere else, (meaning you broke regs already), then your choice is to not land, exhaust your fuel and crash OR break a few more regs, land and survive to see the rath of the FAA and anyone else who wants a peice of you. Either way, you should not be allowed in the front of an aircraft again.
Oh, and to answer your question, I would have stood up during the interview and b1tch-slapped the interviewer.

Duh, air-to-air refueling. :D

When this question comes up on your next interview tell them that you would climb as high as possible until both engines flameout and that way you would have a greater glide distance to another field.

If you can get coffee to come out of the nose of the inteviewer that means you scored extra points.

Proper response is " How the hell did the F*cking Capt get us into this problem because at this point he/she is not listening to me or I am so ineffective as an F.O. I deserve to allow this to happen."

This has to be flame bait. Shut down an engine after going missed in hard IMC WTF ????
I'm sorry to say that we actually had an ATR Capt. shut down a perfectly good engine to descend through a cloud layer and then restart it once below the clouds because they had an prop anti-ice fault..
