I can't believe I'm getting drawn into this, but....
Having closely watched the hiring process since 2001, and particularly watching new hire classes, it is almost exactly 50/50 military/civilian mix. This is not to mention the almost perfect spread of ages 30-50 (+-2). The HR dept has their...
Timing is everything...
Class of May 03
9 months of OAK with only 6 below me (STS) all 4 day weekend reserve.
4 months of BWI reserve and blank lines,
finally to MCO in 14 months and life is very...very good (ELITT rocks)!
I would list junior FO seniority as:
DAL
MCO
HOU
PHX
MDW/BWI
OAK
No...
Having been at SWA for almost 1.5 yrs, just a quick piece of advice (worth what you paid for it;o)
Stereotyping or disparaging one group or another is not very productive in your quest to pursue a career at Southwest Airlines. The road to a major is paid in dues by both civilians and military...
7 pm on the 2nd floor Rennaissance
As a member of the last class '03, I have some info for you all which you may have already received from Monica in the SWA training department.
The welcome party for 04-01 (and any other SWA pilots that want to welcome them) will be at the Rennaissance...
I remember reading about a Palm Pilot program that can download your schedule from Maestro, import it to a Palm logbook and it will calculate expected, and later actual pay/hours/requirements...
Anyone know about this program?
What is it called?
Where I can get the program?
Does it have a...
19 May Class
Well it's been 'a great first week of the rest of our last career'. It started with a welcome party (thanks to the 5 May class), a LUV Spirit Party, and a Fri Deck party to finish the week.
We have an awesome class with 9 military and 11 civilians. 3 of the military guys did...
Got the call
I got the call from the MCO Chief Pilot today as well. He gave a lot of info on what to bring, but not much on future classes (and I tried a couple times to get some intel).
One class in Jul in pencil, but not firm yet. The two classes in May were not firm till recently though...
Repost since the database went down:
Anyone have any suggestions for a Class I Flt Doc in Orlando?
Preference #1- easy to work with and BIG Picture:D
Preference #2- close to West side
I am in the USAFR, and soon to be SWA pilot if that helps. The doc I had in OK was awesome if you had a...

Date on link?
Seeing as I have no experience designing websites, I thought of a suggestion for Heat as the new Pool list master which may or may not be feasible.
Would it be possible to put the date of the current list at the end of the link:
FEDEX Pool 3/28
SWA Pool 4/13
This would save...
SWA May 19th Class Updates
Repost since Flt Info database went down for last weeks posts...
Add your info when you get a chance.
LL called 4/22 to offer 5/19 class!
Drug test complete 4/23.
Waiting on Fedex package and Chief Pilot call (expect any day)
I am trying to give my current employer...
Congrats!
Congrats to the Cinco de Mayo Class!
For those of us moving to the shallow end, how have those in the last few classes matched up with what LL had told you to expect.
Last year, it seemed like Jennifer padded her predictions by a class or two.
ie. if LL said expect to be in the...
Count me in
Add me to the golf towel list....
I hope to be able to afford golf sometime in the future, but for now my brother-in-law has been taking me for a sympathy round every once in awhile. Seeing as he is a 3yr United pilot he kidded with me that I may need to return the...
Anyone know when the Mechs at SWA have their mediation meetings, and what the timeline of their situation is? If I remember Delta's process, they have mediation for a certain period, then they either sign a contract or get the ok to strike.
What's up with the FA contract as well?
I'm guessing...
Pinion-
What's the latest?
What bank are you going through?
Why did you decide on them?
I am in the same boat except that I am out and now in the reserves. I'm hoping they will take my paychecks while on continous orders which would show fulltime pay (and Major in Nov).
When in the process...
Seeing as that I am treading water and enjoying the summer heat, I thought I would check and see if there are any rules by SWA on sunglasses?
Actually, my 2 yr old broke my black Oakley 5s and want to know if SWA cares before I drop another $75 (unemployed at the moment so every buck counts;o)
I asked JB about the Class I issue when mine went to a Class II in Mar. She said it was fine not to renew at that time (treading in the pool), but that I would need a current Class I to start training.
Cheers!
PS - still hoping to hear of CP phone calls to get the weekend started right...
I have to agree with Albie, all work and no play is not the way to make it through the tough year of UPT. Your wife will appreciate having the option to do more while you are busy studying. That being said, Sheppard has a lot more to offer at ~100k vs ~35k at the other bases. I don't know how...
