I once heard about a guy using a small camper type setup in the employee parking lot somewhere. He had even tapped into the electrical supply from an overhead light to power his rig, but he eventually got busted.
I agree, but I'm sure the beancounters have weighed the cost of an ounce of compassion and decided it's not worth the pound of goodwill it might yield.

This exact scenario (simulated) happened to me on my 15% ride as a new hire way back when. One guy flies and does the radio, the other guy fights the fire. Land and deal with it from there. The examiner was satisfied with that.
Does the 145 not have a known gremlin that will drive the steering hard-over on occasion? I seem to recall a memory item from my time in that fine airplane.
But yes, it is asinine that many runways in Canada, the Great White North of all places, are not grooved.
The bottom line: don't cross or end up on a runway you're not supposed to be on, and don't hit anything. Something less than that might get you yelled at a little, but I'm over that.
I remember the first time I rode in a 700. Stuck in the back, thinking, this is the worst. Now they are everywhere, still no fun to ride in. Can't imagine this will be any better.
