Faa published their final rule today. ATP required for FO's but you only need a second class medical unless you are flying supplemental or flag with multiple crews.

Now that you have declared nuclear war on both the Horizon and Alaska pilot groups by having company owned aircraft flown by non-union pilots, good luck recruiting pilots in the future.
Let's think about this for a minute. Retirements will commence again in December of 2012. Alaska has 13...
Did anyone else see that? I'm sure someone can post a link.
I was very glad to hear Sully and Jon Stewart highlight the present state of low pay in the industry.
I am one of those who thought Sully sullied his reputation by testifying in the USAPA trial, but I thought he totally redeemed...
If anyone is interested, Burning Man is going on right now. It is pretty much on the way between PDX and LAS.
It is the 205 bearing off the NEERO intersection at about 90 miles, or NEERO205/90

I saw the Blue Angels over Lake Washington in Seattle today and could swear there were two number 7's which seemed quite odd. I didn't have the clearest view as I was watching a pair of one-year-olds and a three-year-old at the time. I've watched them dozens of times as I'm sure most folks on...
WASHINGTON (AP) -- American Airlines failed to catch repeated errors by mechanics before a September 2007 flight that made an emergency landing after one of its engines caught fire during departure...

Heard a rumor while jumpseating yesterday that the FAA is after the Chief Pilot, VP of Ops (not the one retiring) and the SEA Asst Chief Pilot (not the new one). The FAA is P'O'ed about them giving the carpet dance to pilots who wrote up legitimate discrepancies. I was told that they would all...

It's like your CFI always said, "Don't fly single pilot into lousy weather while high on cocaine, alcohol, and cold medicine because you might lose an engine."

Jetblue has a major mechanical failure. Lives are at risk. The airplane lands safely and everyone in the media and on this board says, "Way to GJblue!". I'm just curious, if it had been an aircraft owned by one of the bankrupt carriers, do you think everyone would be tooting the horn of that...
Most junior captain will have 8 years seniority. That will steadily increase to 10-12 years seniority over the next 7 years unless there is massive growth.
44 New hires for the 1/1/06 bid, supposedly will be 44 more by June or so.
Bases for New hires: (737-400 is really 737-400,700,800,900)...
It isn't official yet, but it looks like the 44 new hires will be for about 10 SEA MD-80 positions, with the rest going to the 737-4,7,8,900 in LA and ANC. Probably equally split, but that is just one man's WAG.
Does your airline allow you to take unpaid leave under the FMLA? I've just learned my airline doesn't allow any pilot to take it since in their view we don't work 1200 hours a year, therefore aren't fulltime and don't qualify.

Here is a perfect example of why you never bust minimums with teachers on board. The bush pilots on here know what I mean. In this case he was not only a teacher, but a reporter! This is a VFR 207 flight, by the way.
