Ironically, wasn't it AK that had a CA suffer from a heart attack and the FO saved the day? Although this does not happen often...it does happen and now with pilots older than 60...my guess is more occurrences rather than less.

Unfortunately, I agree with this...the BODs at AA/US, UA/CAL or DL will have no problem figuring out a way to absorb AK IF the numbers work. It is all about the numbers...
I SURE hope you are right! Unfortunately, management/BOD never seems to sing from the same sheet of music as us though...that is why this industry is a crapshoot. But none of us can do anything about it...so get out there and fill that freezer full of red salmon!
I would be THRILLED if I were an AK pilot with that kind of SLI integration. Consider where those top AK CA's would be placed if they got 500 on a DAL/AK SLI list.

DL will not entertain 717s with pilots. Mgt is way too smart, unlike GK, to start a pilot civil war during a SLI with lowest pay a/c on the list.
