    Nastiest Hotel for an airline?

The cricket infestation at the Knights Inn in Arlington, TX was pretty bad but the Best Western in Texarkana, AR gets my vote. Nasty a$$ rooms! Dirty, Sex-stained sheets on the bed from previous resident's orgy. And, oh yes, the nightly serenade of the drive through speaker from the Taco...

    questions about Eagle Test

I'm no longer employed with Eagle, but, when I interviewed with them several years ago you simply needed to know: 1) The airplane that you have been flying, 2) The regs. that you flew under (135, 121, etc.), 3) Know the Jepps (enroute HI/LO, approach, airport page) 4) Be able to...

    Eagle Medical Exam

Eye Test Hearing Test Computerized Coordination Test Somekind of various computerized IQ tests EKG Bloodwork Pee test X-rays (believe it or not) Grab your nutz and cough All administered by a Nazi regime of nurses and thats about all I can remember. Have fun!

    Metal detector etiquette

Caveman, This is kinda funny as it reminds me of a specific Seinfeld episode.

    Metal detector etiquette

I was waiting for my turn to walk through the detector once with my hands in the pockets and one of those morons rudely yelled at me to get my hands out of my pockets which caught me off guard. At that point, the only thing I was hiding was a bird for this goober.

    Flying in Texas

Lots of sand and dirt out that way! I've had to do a few ILS's into there because of sandstorms. This time of year it'll be hot, and bumpy. It seems like there is always a dry line that forms from Midland-Lubbock-Amarillo which fires off some nasty thunderstorms. Tech women are pretty! And the...

E-120 Charter operation out DFW area?

I thought I overheard someone talking about a startup charter operation flying E-120's out of DFW area today. Just curious if any one else heard anything about this???

Second Career in Computers - Any others?

I'm going to echo just about everything the previous posters have said. The IT industry pretty much $ucks right now. Lots of people are out of work and looking for other jobs. This, doesn't mean that you can't find a job, but its just a little harder now. As far as a degree in IT. You don't...

    I lost a friend today...

I was sitting in a hotel room in Killeen yesterday and had heard about the crash through a friend. My heart sank and my mind went numb. When I flew for Texas Air Charter/Texstar we had lost a pilot, Brian Schroedor, in Del Rio, TX. The same feelings that I felt then came back when I heard...

    Central Air Southwest

When I flew cargo into Wichita(ICT) I would see those guys in there. They flew Aero-Commanders and Lances. The guys I talked to seemed to like the company, which I think they said was based in Kansas City. They were big into the SIC 135 PFT scene and I always saw an SIC on the Commanders...

    Instrument With Part 141 Schools

Delta3, I would say that you may learn a lot from the 141 ground simply because you are in a structured classroom environment where there will be discussions among your instructor and peers. You will learn additional things that will not necessarily be in your textbooks. But, if you are...

    Dallas

I'm not sure what you are looking for, but I think Texstar Air Freight in Denton was looking for people. Not sure if they still are, but if you need a flying job it may be worth a try. They fly C402C's.

    Lockheed Martin Falcon 10's

They fly for Lockheed Martin Missle Division (Grand Prairie). I can't remember the pilot's name but you can Go talk to the manager of the FBO and he may be able to direct you to the correct person. Good luck!

    Transcripts

As long as your not going to a COEX interview I wouldn't worry about it. If anyone does ask, which I doubt they would, just be able to give an explanation as to why it occurred and what you learned from it. I had a couple on my transcript. Best of luck!

Are there any happy eagle pilots??

Yes, the training was good a Eagle. but it is also good other places. When I went through training at Eagle even the instructors were complaining to the new hires. The only happy Eagle pilots that I know are the ex-Eagle pilots who are working elsewhere, which includes me! Life already has...

    Headaches after flying?

I echo the previous posts. 1. Use a good headset. I once owned a pair of Telex Echelon's (briefly) and this head vise would give me a headache after about 10 minutes. They were even worse than the DC13.4's. I eventually bought Lightspeed 20XL's (they're great). 2. Stay hydrated. 3. Don't...

    Big Sky in DFW

Just curious about what the pilots who were based in DFW are having to do since the loss of Essential Air Service from the DFW area. Are they going to Montana???

    Flying in Dallas

I flew for TexStar. It was a good place to gain time and experience, but unfortunately as you found out, the minimums are 1200/250. Try Arlington airport. I had some former students that flew traffic watch out of there earlier this year. Sorry, don't remember the contact's name. -Good luck!

    Anybody know about TexStar?

Hey Benzene, check your user options. I am unable to send you a personal message. It says you have chosen not to receive them.

    ANR Headsets

I have a pair of DC 13.4 that I used while flight instructing. I then bought a Lightspeed 20XL. The lightspeed significantly cuts down on the noise from the larger twins and turbprops that I have flown. I do not have to wear earplugs with my headset, which a lot of people do. Negatives to...
